Guest Joey Scarf Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) Anyone managed to get S Voice on to their gingerbread orange monte carlo as ive heard it only works for ICS at the moment. Edited May 24, 2012 by Joey Scarf
Guest hugobosslives Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 you mean ics yer? feel free to try it. there's a post here with a review and the apk http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/05/20/full-hands-on-with-samsungs-s-voice-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/ but word on the web is sammy have realised and are now blocking all non s3 connections with the sever so it will no longer work.
Guest Joey Scarf Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Sorry, yeh i mean't Gingerbread, would be really good if we had it on OMC as it looks as good as Siri
Guest Redstarr1 Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 It's only for ICS. It's possible on a non SGS III if you change build.prop. Don't know how to do that though. And it doesn't work in Dutch so no use for me.
Guest nathanmarck Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 I have it installed but it's honestly a massive waste of time/space. For me once I talk to it once it stops doing anything at all. But that's just me
Guest utternoob Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Because Samsung have blocked non S3 access to the server
Guest felystar Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Because Samsung have blocked non S3 access to the server Yes but it has a fix. Open the build.prop with Es File Explorer for example and change the model of the phone to the samsung galaxy model. In the xda topic for the S Voice you can find how to do it
Guest utternoob Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) True, but it takes up so much space, and takes ages to free enough up Edit: Done some build.prop changes, what does need changing? Edited May 22, 2012 by utternoob
Guest kamango604 Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 Use Speaktoit Assistent instead of S Voice.
Guest utternoob Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 I prefer Vlingo, which S voice is based on
Guest razzmataz1478 Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 It is vlingo, but a worse version in my opinion, it doesn't seem to want to hear my voice more than once
Guest pladix Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 Use this is work for me http://205.196.123.141/wkcl3l2zivwg/m7mu6pdt0b63dul/voicetalk.rar
Guest ukgnome Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I find skyvi is the better voice assistant
Guest iReece Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I'm confused. Samsung are android, no? Android want to be open and free, no? So, why is Samsung doing what apple did with Siri and closing access to non s3 phones? That seems pretty closed up to me. And, yeah. It's rubbish. It's worse than the original vlingo and uses up ten times more room and cannot be moved...
Guest ukgnome Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 Samsung is a company that uses Android on some of their devices. They do not have to share any of their innovations.

Lol, they become more like apple with every invention. Release a new phone with a slightly slimmer design and faster processor. Slate apple for doing the same thing with the iPhones. Lolwut, Also, they are becoming so closed up. S voice... Their tablet range didn't even have the correct android advantages, SD card storage etc... Just like the iPad. :/ their becoming the company they hate. Maybe this is why apple is sueing them so much?.. Meh.
Guest ukgnome Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I don't see how they become more like apple. There are plenty of voice assistants out there. S.voice uses a lot of Google voice (as far as I can tell) I recommend you download skyvi from the play store if you want a siri(ish) experience on a droid. Not all handsets are identical and each one brings something new or different to the party. Anyway what is wrong with apple? They use a similar business model to Google, ensuring their users actually use their products. Samsung is just a manufacturer, why would you choose a Samsung over a HTC if they were the same? I don't understand your argument.

I meant how Samsung and apple are locked in patent wars and Samsung create android devices. For some reason, most Samsung users seem content on thinking they have more freedom than iOS users. When, the truth is, Samsung devices are being closed almost as tight as iDevices. No SD storage on tablets, making it harder and harder to root. Creating silly policies and rules. Closing off programmes they made (althought it looks like they need more work before they can proudly close it off...) I'm just saying. They use android, which is open source. They are not very open source though. Bei googles biggest helper next to HTC in the android world, they should keep this open sourceness... All I said was it is ironic how a company that creates devices with an open OS is making them tighter and tighter.

Guest ukgnome Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) But to be fair, that's Google's design, not their own... Are you sure? "Samsung designed its Galaxy Nexus phone from the ground up to avoid Apple patents, according to remarks made to the press by JK Shin, the company's mobile president."
