Guest PaulOBrien Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Boid, the fledgling Twitter app for devices running Ice Cream Sandwich, has now moved from Alpha to pre-Beta stage, gaining a wealth of new features in the process. The application is the work of a 6 man team including lead developer Aidan Follestad and places an emphasis on beauty and simplicity while staying as true to the ICS design guidelines as possible. A full changelog is available on the Boid Google Docs site, but key changes in the pre-Beta include: Removed accounts tab and added a separate interface with switcher in action barAdded Nearby and Media Timeline column typesTweet composer has been redesignedColumns can now be pinned from around the appTwitLonger posting for over 140 character Tweets has been addedMuting of phrases and hashtags has been addedSupport for following stocks has been added The app is looking good with many additional features in the pipeline (including push notification support) and enters a market where the existing applications are generally felt to be somewhat lacking. Boid is one of a number of new generation apps arriving soon including the forthcoming Carbon for Android release and a project I myself am involved in, OneSocial. Boid can be downloaded, for free, from the Google Play Store. Click here to view the item
