So yesterday my micro usb slot decided to give up the ghost and die on me meaning i can't charge my phone but not to fear i had a solution....not a very portable solution mind but least i can use my phone again and charge the battery, basically stripped an old usb cable and separated the red and black wire then sellotaped them to the relevant contact points on the battery works a treat :) i.....just.....cant go out with the phone anywhere.

"Just buy a new phone" i hear you cry, well, i would but i'm currently out of work which means no dosh, so if i want to go anywhere i have to swap out the sim into my old sony erricson z7oi something something hmm

I wouldn't recommend charging batteries directly from USB because you do not have a current limiting circuit in place.

Uncontrolled current charging could result in your battery overheating, bulging and in some cases catching fire.

If you look on eBay or Amazon you can buy chargers that you take you're battery out and fit to the charger and then replace the battery after charging.

The usb is plugged into the laptop not the mains im not that stupid ha ha, but thank you for your concern anyway im happy to take the risk cause I've had to do this before with an old phone and that was fine for months on end
