It may not be getting ICS officially (thanks for that, Motorola!) but the Motorola Defy+ is still a great little handset if you want a compact size and a little bit of ruggedness. And now it's only £170 too!

The Defy+ is another Asda bargain, following on from the Evo 3D deal that proved wildly popular earlier this year.

Full details / specs on the handset can be found at the Motorola product page, but the key specs are:

  • 1GHz processor (up from 800MHz on the original Defy)
  • 1700 mAh battery (up from 1540mAh on the original Defy)
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread (no official ICS update planned)
  • 512MB internal RAM, 1GB available internal ROM
  • 3.7" 480 x 854 WVGA touchscreen
  • 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash
  • GSM 850/900/1800/1900; WCDMA 900/2100; HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (Category 7/8), EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12, HSUPA 2.0 Mbps
  • WiFi 802.11 b,g,n
  • Bluetooth Class 2 Version 2.1+ EDR
  • microUSB connector
  • microSD expansion
  • 118g
  • 107 (h) x 59 (w) x 13.4 (d) mm

I found the original Defy to run nicely with great battery life, so the 1GHz processor here and the 1700mAh battery are nice additions.

One of the key features of the Defy of course is it's water resistance (and indeed general resistance to drops and knocks). I happily dropped the original Defy in a bucket of water with no ill effects :D

Looking to order? Head on over to Asda. TopCashBack are also offering 2.02% cashback (it all helps right?) :)
