Guest hecatae Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Three UK have announced that they are to increase contract prices by 3.6%, in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate published on 17 April 2012. This applies to all customers except those who joined on or after 8th March 2012 or have a 30 day SIM only contract. Unfortunately this is something that 3 are allowed to do without giving customers the ability to terminate their contract, as it is covered within their terms & conditions. If you are paying £25 a month for example, you will see an increase of 90p a month. So lets recap - when the interest rate is in their favour, Three UK will increase their prices by the RPI. But when the rate turned negative in 2009, Three UK refused to reduce their prices. Having their cake and eating it? ;) Three's justification is as follows... While we know a price increase is never welcome, this is the first time that we've ever raised the price of our Pay Monthly phone contracts and we're confident that your plan still represents excellent value for money. Anyone affected by the change should be receiving a SMS, e-mail or letter advising of the change, arriving between the 21st May and 1st June 2012. [Via: Three UK] Click here to view the item
Guest AshtonBRSC Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Well, T-Mobile and Orange have done this as well already, so we'll see if O2 and Vodafone follow suit.
Guest Sebianoti Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Really... Bought my contract with Three on the 5th of April, i pay £35, can't afford to pay more, not even 10p more....
Guest AshtonBRSC Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 @Sebianoti You should be ok. The article says "This applies to all customers except those who joined on or after 8th March 2012". This is just treating loyal customers badly not discouraging new customers.
Guest JohnnyZTE Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 I have two contracts with Three at £20 the contract runs out in August so I haven't got much to complain about but principle, I said when I took these contracts out I specifically told that the cost would be £20 per month for 24months and will not change, I pointed out that a verbal agreement is legal and binding. I also pointed out clause 10.1 that it is detrimental and I will be worse off with this increase and I wish to cancel. I was talking to monkeys in a Zoo, they are not interested. I rang back to complain about how I was treated in the last call and just leave them with one more thought. Move both my contracts to SIM15 and I will stay with three. don't move them and I promise I will leave come August. they told me to leave if that how I felt. 3 are not going to last very long with a attitude like this.
