Thanks Malloc for the updated player. If I can make a sugestion for next version, can you make it so the seek bar can be toggled on and off? I find it very anoying, it flickers all the time and detracts from the otherwise excellent picture quality of the divx player. Also, and this may just be me, I'm not sure this is running as smothly as the previous version, has anything been altered that could affect the smoothness? ( this could just be my SPV tho :) ). One other little sugestion, is there any need to see the full path to the movie when selecting the file? I have 2 movies in my movies folder inside my documents folder and I have to scroll to the right to see which movie is which. No big deal just a minor tweak that would be appreciated.

thanks again for a great app.

You can hide the progess bar pressing the key 2 8)

You're not the first to say that the player seems to be

a bit slower... hum... I'll look into it, it seems strange

since I only removed some unusefull code and didn't

really touch anything on the decoding part. It should

even be quicker... but didn't notice any differences

on my SPV...

I'll try to find something for the file selection to see

the filename first and the directory in an other column.

oops!.......sorry, I didn't notice the progress bar toggle, my bad!.

I does seem slower to me, I just re-booted and tried again, it does seem to struggle a bit.

On the plus side, it's great to have navigation working, microsoft couldn't be bothered!!

Keep up the good work

cheers

the gamma correct had made a big difference to the quality of viewing. The file selection is much better.

The ability to rotate is great.

The performace is amazing compared to Win Media Player.

This app is getting better and better.

Geat App!! File selection has just made my day. No more renaming!

As some other ppl have mentioned, it does seem to run slower than b4.

Good job though. Keep it u :) p !

Does the new version support DivX 5.0.3 yet?

Any plans to include support in later versions, or should i uninstall 5.03. and download and reinstall 5.0.2?

I encoded a game demo avi with divx 5.03 earlier and it played fine.

I've just installed the Alpha 3 download and it doesn't work half as well as the previous version. I have the file selection feature but the movies don't play correctly.

When I play a file it plays for about 2 seconds and then cuts out. I thought I might have the file settings wrong but all the files which I'm trying worked fine with the previous version. One file which is 80mb (baseketball movie) doesn't even load.

By the way what should the version on the File->About be?

Keep up the good work, I'll reinstall alpha 2 for the time being.

Hi all I'm having some problems, I couldn't get Alpha 02 to work at all, I kept gettin 'Error loading file reader'. Then it said 'Failed to load file, Please check available memory'

So i've just installed Alpha 03, don't get the error any more but can't get it to play correctly. I've been trying to play a clip of Angel i encoded using VirtualDub but only getting sound, no picture. Just a black screen.

Plays fine on my PC but not on the SPV :)

Heres Media info for the clip i'm trying to play:

File Name: StorageCardtest.avi

Resolution: 176:220

Frames: 5589

FPS: 29.970629

Audio Bitrate: 24000

Audio Rate: 11025

Channels: 1

Running Time: 0h 3m 6s

FourCC: divx

Audio Format: 85

My SPV's status (using SP Task Manager):

Apps running:

Tray

Programs

System status:

Battery - 99%

Phys. memory - Tol: 12112K Free: 7656K

Obj. store mem - Tol: 1916K Free: 1462K

Storage card - Tol: 122.41M Free: 90.72M

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Hi Aonz, it sounds like an encoding problem.

1) Do you have Divx 5.02 codec installed

2) Have you set the frame rate to decimate by 3 when encoding.

The codec can be downloaded from here

http://www.divxtoday.com/codecs.html(at your own risk)

When I say "at your own risk", i mean exactly that. When dowloading anything there is always a risk involved, especially with sites like these adding in spyware, etc.

Please feel free to search for the codec yourself, this was the first site i came across that still had this version. Most sites only have 5.03 version now.

Anyway once you've seen how much better the Pocket Divx player is compared to the windows media player i think you'll agree its was worth the risk.

I used the 5.0.3 codec at first, and the file played, but certainly not as well as with the 5.0.2.

But when I encoded that file, I didn't decimate by 3. And for some reason, the screen was not full-size.

But I'm not complaining now... The thing works, so now I'm off to school with 2 episodes of Ducktales on my phone, running SOOOO smooth....

Great work malloc, are there any plans for the next version to have the backlight on when playing files?

Posted

Thanks a lot for the good feedbacks, I plan to add these features

when I've got time :

- Resume last played file (to continue where the last played

file was when the player was stopped)

- Back light on/off (if I don't find a suitable way, I'll probably

use the registry to change the global phone settings, even if

it's a dirty way to do it...)

- Playlist handling

- Configuration dialog

I'm thinking...

For those who have issues with files playing well on the ALPHA02

and not on the ALPHA03, I think it might be the seek feature.

You can disable it by editing the registry

softwarePocketMVPNoIndex and setting it to 1 instead of 0.

It should work better, but you'll loose the ability to seek in the

movie...

same as, same as....

changed to version 3 and no where near as smooth as the last 2 versions????

changed settings still the same (jerky)????

V2 for now then....

top job tho......

Any way one of you brainboxes can author a ste-by-step or some sort of 'how to' for converting files to be viewed on PocketMVP?

Yours in hope

Changing the 0 to 1 doesn't make any difference.

Thurstan, download this tutorial

http://www.ifrance.com/sunvirgi/tutorialEN.zip

One thing that the tutorial omits is that you need to got to video and decimate the frame rate by 3

Has anybody come up with any optimum settings for encoding files yet? If I try and deviate from the tutorial settings I usually end up with something unwatchable

I seem to have problems turning the progress bar off, it takes a couple of tries before it "updates", is it just me? would it be better to have it off (oh er misis) by default?

Posted

Is there a way to make it only look up files in a certain folder instead of the entire sd card? I only want to open up movie files so I dont really want a long list on my mp3s as well! Cheers
