Guest RussellS Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 I just thought I'd let you all know of a much better camera app I am now using for the G300. As the standard camera app is, in my mind, sadly lacking I have tried various replacements from the Play store and I have settled on Camera360 Ultimate https://play.google....Camera360&hl=en This is only for still photos and not for video but the pictures it takes are much better and it is much faster at taking them especially when using the flash. There are good controls over the exposure settings and flash as well as image stabilization and self timer modes. Anyone who uses their phone for taking even occasional pictures I would recommend giving Camera360 Ultimate a try, it's free from the Play store.
Guest Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) I deleted this post as I feel like I kind of hijacked your topic by saying this one is better than one you have recommended, sorry about that ;) Also, after using camera 360 for a while,I think I prefer it for a dedicated camera app(still use lg camera for video) This camera app feels quite fast at taking pictures, its quick to focus, and I like the fact you can touch the screen to select where the focus point will be,given you the option to blur the background like a professional camera. The photo storage is nice too, like a calendar. And best of all....Its free! Edited June 8, 2012 by Guest

Guest RussellS Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Your more than welcome guys. Let me know what you think of it when you've had a chance to use it a bit.
Guest runlevel5 Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 I already appreciate the ability to set the quality and size of the image and the extra functionality of time/date stamping (most useful for eBay photos). I will test out the other features on my travels over the weekend. All good so far. I love a good free app :-)
Guest t-bon3 Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 The date time stamp only seems to work if a filter / effect is applied as well.

Out of interest, can you remember what other camera apps you tried and what you thought of them?

Guest FrankieADZ Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 just tried the app & I have to admit Im really impressed with it. Great find there RussellS :D
Guest Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 Just had a little play with this camera app,and the features are surprisingly good for a free app. Just one question,is it possible to have the UI in landscape,I can see no way to do this ?
Guest Chrisund123 Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 I've used lgCamera for a while on another device, I like it as the camcorder can record as .mp4 rather than .3gp - which is handy as my media player won't play 3gp videos :D
Guest RussellS Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 Yeah, lgcamera was one of the apps I tried before settling on Camera360. I didn't think that the camera part of it was much of an improvement over the stock one although the video part was. To be honest, I don't use the video recording aspect much and it was the still picture capability I was more interested in.
Guest lobespear Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) how can you make one of these replacement camera apps replace the stock camera app? e.g when i drag down on the unlock screen to the camera icon, i want it to open the replacement camera app instead of the stock camera app. any opinions about these apps... Guest Titas Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 Not sure on the lockscreen bit. I deleted the stock camera & use Camera Zoom FX. All the features are there on Play - stable shot, burst mode, voice activation etc - all very useful. I haven't tried others but this app is highly (highest?) rated & I find it does everything I need. No gimmicks - it's a serious camera app.
Guest G-razer Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 What are the best settings for IgCamera in camcorder mode? I'm on Stock+ rom and looking to remove the juddering and blur.
Guest sashko69 Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 What are the best settings for IgCamera in camcorder mode? I'm on Stock+ rom and looking to remove the juddering and blur. 640x480, H.264 8 Mbit/s, AAC 128000, 30 FPS, and Scene mode set to "Action". These are, by my experience, the best settings for video recording on a daylight.
Guest Rico_89 Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 What are the best settings for IgCamera in camcorder mode? I'm on Stock+ rom and looking to remove the juddering and blur. If you're the same guy that asked a question on my youtube channel yesterday then here's the reply I left: "I assume you're running ICS like me: OK only use the official default Huawei Camera, that came with the phone, then go to settings in "Camera" mode, set picture quality to "Super Fine" and then turn off "Auto Focus". Now switch to video mode and tap the screen where you want it to focus and start filming". I will add here that the camera requires lots of light, so if you want to video or take pictures of objects close up in doors, then just place a white piece of paper behind anything you want to capture and it should work pretty good.
Guest G-razer Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Hi Rico, I replied there thanks. The issue was that changing the resolution in IgCamera comcorder (free) didn't actually lower the resolution so I thought something was wrong with the phone camera. There appears to be a bug in that app (I'm using the Stock+ custom rom) On going into the stock camera I could reduce the resolution, then swiping over to camcorder function the setting stuck so it could be used. @Sashko, I'll try the bitrate at 8mbit's and "action" scene mode later for outdoor use too.
