Guest razzmataz1478 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 G300, you'd be stupid to go for the galaxy ace
Guest thejaimes111 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 G300, of course youvcan delete the Vodafone Apps, when you are root ;)
Guest runlevel5 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Hi gifgaff. have a look around this forum and you'll see that the vodafone stuff can be removed by flashing one of the roms available from here. As for updating, it depends what you mean, ICS has been promised by Huawei in the coming months and if you have a look around this forum you will see active development of other flavours such as CM9. As for which one you should buy, that is your choice. If you could try out both I suspect you would opt for the G300. Vodafone unlocks are less than £10 on ebay or you could be really lucky and get a factory unlocked one straight from voda online like I did. all the best.
Guest Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Agreed, the galaxy ace is not even in the same league as g300,and it cost more because it has Samsung name.lol I cannot remember the screen resolution, but I am sure it was a lot lower than 480x800 which is what the g300 has. Also, ace is Armv6 800Mhz & g300 is Armv7 1Ghz there is no comparison really.
Guest gifgaff Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 good replys thx so what exzactly is root will it be the same OS but i would be able to delete more / have more control how does it work googled it could find out its like a jailbreak but nothing really in detail
Guest gifgaff Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 ive heard some aspects of the phone can stop working when you unlock it if i bought the huawei ascend and unlocked it and used giffgaff sim would i still be able to download apps update firmware ,use everything the same
Guest runlevel5 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 (edited) Check out this link for a good explanation of rooting and it's benefits: http://funsurf-blog....roid-phone.html Also, head over to the giffgaff forums and you will see a thread on the ascend: http://community.gif...300/m-p/4586122 and this: http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Social-Off-Topic/Is-the-Huawei-Ascend-G300-worth-it/m-p/4522514 Edited June 9, 2012 by runlevel5
Guest Davidoff59 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 root is giving you full control of the phone, giving you administrator privileges. The only aspects of the phone that wont work are things like movie rentals as rooted phones are barred from renting. Giffgaff here and no issues whatsoever.
Guest Chrisund123 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 My gf's mum has a galaxy ace. It's a pile of crap, go with the ascend.

Guest runlevel5 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 RIM are not doing themselves any favours either, BBM for android has been scrapped: http://androidcommunity.com/blackberry-ceo-cans-bbm-for-android-20120525/
Guest Davidoff59 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 If you have ever tried to use Samsung Kies, you would stay well away. The single worst piece of software that I have ever used and it never worked. GF has a Samsung galaxy Europa which cost about £100 about a year and a half ago. You can get so much more for your money nowadays.

Guest Davidoff59 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Zte Mimosa X may cause a bit of a stir when it arrives. Slated for release in Q2 and currently undergoing qc testing. Looks set to sell @ under £200 for dual core 4.3 inch. iirc, the zte era may excite a few also.

Guest MrPuddington Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 G300, you'd be stupid to go for the galaxy aceI looked into it, and the Galaxy Ace is indeed not competitive, as many of the budget Samsung phones in general. The screen is inferior, the camera is said to perform badly, and it is not as powerful. Even if the Galaxy lasts 3 years, and the G300 only two, that still makes the G300 the better deal I think.
Guest Pondlife Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 I wouldn't want a Galaxy Ace now, let alone in three years time.
