contacts missing and no location on google maps

Ampe A90 rooted latest firmware and working apart from two problems:-

1) No contacts/people, tried the various ics-4.0.3-google-play-script I can find ,but it does not put contacts or people on the tablet..

2) Logging into google maps, says, “waiting for location” followed by “your current location is temporarily unavailable”, google’s location service on tablet is enabled, this seems to be a problem across various tablets, so has anybody found a fix yet? ..
