how to play mp4 videos?

Hey firstly I'm not being overly ambitious and wanting to play 720p mp4 videos, most of the are about 480p.

As you have noticed lots of torrents are now in mp4 rather than avi (which worked perfectly) I have attempted to use many apps such as 'rockplayer' 'moboplayer' 'mx player' and 'daroon' all of which lag so much that its unplayable both on hw & sw decoding.

Any apps or suggestions on how to play mp4 files or is it impossible? (I can't be bothered to convert each file btw)

Doesn't show up on play store, so I downloaded an apk. But it keeps crashing instantly. Can u suggest anything else please?

Because 600 mhz of processor can't handle 720p videos on Android

1) Use Gingerbread, not ICS. HW video decoding isn't working properly on ICS yet.

2) Stock video player is capable of playing Mp4 files

3) Mp4 is just a container, a range of video and audio codecs are supported, I'd recommend using h264 and aac, yes other apps will support wider ranges of codecs but likelyhood is you wont get HW decoding and the software decoding is slow because of the CPU

4) I don't really think 720p is feasible on the blade, but considering the screen hasn't even got that many pixels, I don't see much point...though If you cant be bothered to re-encode you may spend more time messing about on your phone

Im using Swedish Snow 7, and used gallery, videos, and quickpic. I keep getting "sorry, this video cannot be played" will it work on cm7? Thankyou for your detailed answer!
