Guest Christian Edwards Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 I have a cracked screen on my G300 and now replacement screens are available for only £20 I'm gonna change it. Before I buy the screen I've tried to take the thing apart but have hit a snag. There are 2 easy Torx bolts under the battery then another 2 each under the white end pieces. Then there are 4 tabs to prise apart and the screen is free in the middle but still stuck at both ends. I've seen pictures of a teardown but not a How To. Anyone know how to completely take the screen off?
Guest dbaseii Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 It would be interesting if there are solder points for a front facing camera on the pcb
Guest Christian Edwards Posted June 24, 2012 Report Posted June 24, 2012 I haven't been to take mine apart yet but there are some pictures here. http://www.wirelessgoodness.com/2012/02/27/huaweis-ascend-g300-android-smartphone-hits-the-fcc-gets-torndown/
Guest Davidoff59 Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 Looks like there are 4 screws holding the screen down in those pics.
Guest Christian Edwards Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 I've got it apart now but sadly not without cracking the digitiser (it was only the glass smashed before). The White end pieces have 2 torx each holding them down but one has its second torx bolt hidden inside the plastic somehow. Once I broken the top white piece off I cut the top off the reveal the torx. I suppose it was obvious it had to be there as its symmetrical to the other side but I didn't expect to have to cut the plastic to get to it.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 It wouldn't be a slide up or down thing would it, ie the way a picture frame is hung on a screw. So loosen all visible screws and the hidden screws are tightened so that the white bit or whatever just slides up and out? Any chance of some pics upon reassembling?
Guest CrystalLettuce Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Digitiser screen or LCD?
