Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 Im getting an 'Unable to place call' error, and i have checked my settings... :| Weird, I was also having a load of probs using GPRS at work last night - kept getting the "Page cannot be found" message. Try the same page a couple of minutes later, no problems. Then the same again a little later. I reckon Orange's GPRS over here is shagged right now....in Kbh. anyway.
Guest Firaas Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 Im getting an 'Unable to place call' error, and i have checked my settings... :| Checked your date/time? They should be within three months of the current date/time. Otherwise, restart your phone and check signal...
Guest Lojt Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 Worked after a restart  <-- Omg Diehard 8)
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 Worked after a restart  <-- Omg Diehard 8) GPRS here is still a bit on/off - one minute the connection's excellent (fast), next it won't connect at all. All my settings are fine, by the way. Anyone else in Kbh. having problems, I wonder? Heh, just noticed my "Enthusiast" status too.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 Checked your date/time? They should be within three months of the current date/time. Firaas, I've been wondering about why the date/time has an effect on various things - I've heard this explanation/solution a few times now. Is it a network thing?
Guest GoGO Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 I couldn`t get in contact with orange whole that day :{
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I couldn`t get in contact with orange whole that day :{ Orange GPRS, you mean? Or Orange in general?
Guest Deathrow Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I had problems with the GPRS for the last 14 days... Went on and off all the time... I then went to the orange store to check, if it was my phone or orange who had the problem. The guy at the store had such a hard time, checking my settings, and came out with no conclusion. He didn´t know if orange were having problems... It just started working again, a couple of days ago. I just hate when you know more about something then the people at the stores. And I don´t even know that much about the spv. argh! :) Btw the problem was in Aarhus. /Silas

There seems to be a problem with Orange's GPRS all over DK then - have friends in Roskilde & Odense that have also suffered from inconsistant GPRS connections the past couple of weeks. And, as you say, the Orange DK sales staff don't know anything about the SPV or anything to do with it....pathetic.
Guest bech Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 I have problems to connect to the GPRS. After a power on, it works for about 6 hours then i get "unable to place call" even when i have the G indicator in the top bar. A reboot solves the problem, but only for some hours. I contacted my Orange shop yesterday and got a new sim card, but it did not help. Anyone have some suggestions? Bech
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Anyone have some suggestions? Have you installed the DK update? I used to get this occasionally, the update seems to have helped in some way - if only due to better signal strength.
Guest bech Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 I have the DK update. I am wondering if it can be a faulty headset? My settings are ok, the GPRS works for some time but then it will not connect. Reboot always hepls. Bech
Guest Firaas Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Firaas, I've been wondering about why the date/time has an effect on various things - I've heard this explanation/solution a few times now. Is it a network thing? Woops, didn't see that - sorry for the late reply... Apparently the Orange network requires that your date/time settings be within three months of the Orange network's. The reason I was given for this is that it protects against virus attacks - although I didn't see how this could protect against anything...
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Protects against virus attacks? Good old Orange, eh?
Guest danflo Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 I just installed the uk update and after that the big G i not coming back?? Anyone got a suggestion? (i´m using a sonofon sim) /Danflo
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 I just installed the uk update and after that the big G i not coming back?? Anyone got a suggestion? (i´m using a sonofon sim) You have GPRS enabled with your Sonofon subscription? (stupid question, but you never know  )
Guest danflo Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 You have GPRS enabled with your Sonofon subscription? (stupid question, but you never know ) That´s right. You never know  Yes, it´s enabled, and it worked fine before the uk update. Btw i also applied the unlock sim prog same day, but it shouldn´t make a difference, should it? /Danflo
Guest Speedy Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 i have also had problems with gprs in Århus, but it seems to work now. Funny thing, i was on my down to the o shop and thought i'ed check one last time and of course it worked. Cant help on the sonofon though, but why would you wanne update with the uk update when you got the danish? there seems to be no diff.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Try giving Sonofon Kundeservice a call - maybe they've been having some probs in your area. Speedy: Apparently the T9 remembers words after the UK update - personally, I'll be waiting for the next DK update - all the probs people have had with the installer have put me off the UK one. Hey! Maybe all us in DK should start saying stuff like "The UK installer was a beta" and "they just wanted to test it in the UK before releasing it in Denmark" just like all the brits said about our buggy update hahahaha
Guest sirius-c Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 i have a gprs prob here in UK, "Error Unable to place call, dam thing has never been able to place a call, ive gone through the settings with orange over & over & over & over again (u know the robots reading the screens  ) and still no connection. so i ring them up a 5th time and get nasty, they said they would send me an sms configurator... "Yeah ok whatever, sort this thing out PLZ!" 24 hours later & nothing. I ring them up again...guess what? sounds to me like she's reading from a screen again! The internet, orange gprs, DNS Settings blah blah blah, s*** woman ive been dreaming these settings i know them off by heart now, but nooooo we have to go through them again. honestly ive had the phone 2 days & I already know more about it than orange do im sure. Anyway still no working gprs cos im waiting for tech support to ring me back, still waiting. tick tock tick tick, I think the music you hear whilst on hold should be changed to the BBC's Magic roundabout theme DO DO DO DO DO.. DO DO DO DO DO....... i think if this carries on ill be returning this spv & buying an o2xda Oh btw....my clocks fine
Guest toadvox Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 I'm having the same problem. Error-Unable to Place Call. I've tried to get Orange to fix it and they just dont seem to be able to. It was working fine until I had a sim update to enable international roaming! I dont think it was anything to do with the UK update. It was still working after I did that. This is going to really really annoy me.
Guest Tommo Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Guy's I had the same problem yesterday...switched the phone off and then back on and it was fine.
Guest toadvox Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 I've turned my phone off and on countless times..... it's exactly the same everytime!! Error-Unable to place call.
