Excuse my lack of knowledge and the lay person chat.

I can only think it's since I cleaned my phone with an anti-bacterial wipe thing, (pet issue), my 6 month old SFII decides that the volume up or volume down buttons are been pressed when they are not. Happens extremely frequently whatever I'm doing, provided the screen isn't locked.

Was running an older ROM found on this forum in December. As of yesterday I'm running CyanogenMod 7 and the ClockWorkRecovery which are pinned to the top of the forum.

Have tried Volume Locker, Volume Control + and at least one other app. However I've only been able to limit the changes to volume which result from the supposed button presses - and only some of the time. The Volume box continually appears at the top of my screen, and the phone beeps every second or two, as it tries to adjust the volume up, for example.

Am I missing that this can be fixed by using these or another app correctly, or changing a setting? I've tried ticking/unticking everything I can think of (which may have been a terrible idea). Even better, is it at all possible to just disable the buttons?

Any guidance will be much appreciated!

I Also have this error, even though its just my vol-. Right, I know how you can make the volume box go away, but I can't stop it thinking it's being pressed. It will also require adb

It worked. :D

Installed SDK on a new machine due to my old one helpfully not having a backslash key, used a terminal to give read/write privileges and finally was able to adb push the file you sent to system/usr/keylayout.

Rebooted and there are no more screen obscuring Volume change boxes, no more beeping or vibration. I've set the volumes where I want them and the Volume Locker app seems to be working. Everything is slower but for now I'll happily trade speed for it not continually getting on my tits.
