Guest narkoman88 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) Great! What was the third problem? Did you manage to solve it? Almost everything has been decided. Just does not work Network Assistent. Edited March 28, 2013 by narkoman88

Guest dakok Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) Yes, by deleting bloatware apps :) I`ll make a topic this afternoon. We shouldn`t (me :)) interrupt this topic anymore. New Miui is about to land here :) EDIT: here: Edited March 28, 2013 by dakok

Guest Tentmaster Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 That link for MIUI 2.10.19 is woefully slow. Over an hour to download :(
Guest Paulzie Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 (edited) That link for MIUI 2.10.19 is woefully slow. Over an hour to download :( Maybe worthwhile caning the download and getting the newer 3.2.27 version released Feb-27-2013 I found about at anzhi. It's the last ICS release of MIUI V4 by GenoKolar. Direct link is: http://pan.baidu.com...6&uk=3791923799 . It's discussed on 4pda.ru Russian forum where a been performanced modded version exists too. I'm grabbing it now to see how it's improved over previous versions. Should be a beauty :) Edited June 10, 2013 by Paulzie
Guest Paulzie Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Impressed I've stumbled onto a highly feature rich yet high performing ROM after testing many. Accomplished by starting with a MIUI V4 2.7.6 ROM, replacing the resource hungry Credential manager with SU, getting rid of some bloat apps, loading other useful ones and installing the OC kernel from the later releases. That gets working themes and 195MB of free RAM after a clean boot, leaning it out to about the same level as the impressive Tesla ROM I was using previously. Benefit here is I get the outstanding integrated MIUI themeing. Lots of usable eye candy here. Screenshots Online themes to your heart's content: change the complete look with a theme, or change individual items like background, lock screen, sounds, etc. Details from testing different versions Findings about the 2.7-3.2 Geno MiUI V4 releases - I can get up to 195MB free on bootup on the 2.7.6 release. This is sensational for a pretty ROM like this one. Versions 2.7.13 or thereafter can only get 152-160MB free on bootup. That eliminates those versions as candidates as they are just too bloated. - appears built on B926 or newer B952 stock ICS. This made is possible for me use Huawei apps including layering EmotionUI (EMUI) on this ROM. Main benefit there is the Emotion UI widgets (MEWidget). I installed both the Huawei and MiUI launchers preferring MiUI one as it provides the same feature set then some plus integrates into the System Settings->Launcher menuitem. - holding the HOME button brings up a task-kill list with memory free and a zapping to quickly close background apps. Versions up to 2.7.6 have a simple task list and zap button on left with a task manager shortcut button on the right.. Versions 2.7.13 or newer have a more sophisticated animated one-touch-button. - Has outstanding MiUI themeing. Online themes can change the look of the entire phone with a few selections. Or can just alter individiual wallpapers/locks screen/phone/sounds to your liking. - 2G/3G toggle though it simply pushes the user to the Settings Panel and doesn't switch it directly. 2.7.6 drops the user into a second menu where they set 3G/2G/3G perferred modes. Newer versions just have that second menu. - beautiful lock ring that doubles up as sound play/pause ring if playing music in the background using the MIUI music player. - standard package includes a credential manager that sucks up a lot of resources. Once replaced by SuperUser (SU) the ROM becomes usable. These run an unusual kernel I went through GenoKolar's MIUI v4 releases versions 2.7.4 to the last 3.2.27 (Feb-27-2013) version as found at anzhi. I found there were five kernels used: 6,955,008 boot.img (2.7.4-2.7.6) -> NO overclocking 5,472,256 boot.img (2.7.13) 4,188,160 boot.img (2.8.3) 3.082,240 boot.img (2.10.19-3.1.18) -> OVERCLOCKING SUPPORT, but appears no init.d 4,205,544 boot.img (3.2.8- 3.2.27) -> NO overclocking The 3,082,240 boot.img with OC support works on the first 2.7.4 and the last 3.2.27 release. Being based on a stock HW system I figured one of the kernels available for stock builds would work. So I tried all the ones in [COMPILATION] ROMs/KERNELs/RECOVERYs/MODs/TUTORIALs/THEMEs/ORIGINAL FIRMWARE [uPDATED 01/06/13], including the GenoKolar ones, finding they hard lock bootup. So need to live with these kernels as they aren't being developed further. Where can I download your modified ROM? Not made public yet. I'm not a developer so am hesitant to do a reease without some user testing with critique/advice. Saying that, I'm using it as a daily ROM. I'm wondering if anybody else is enthused as I am about this ROM? I figure others' may have just skimmed over it, as I was about to, after seeing poor out-of-the-box performance. Guest hippy dave Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Thanks for the detailed breakdown. I'd be interested to see your rom if you do decide to share.
Guest smweb Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 Detailed and good work. Would love to try this one if you decide to make it public. With such eye candies getting nearly 200 Mb of free ram is an achievement.
Guest Paulzie Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 (edited) Next in line to give this a whirl :D ROM looks and plays great but there's one rather serious functionality bug. If you connect via USB to PC, then disconnect, the internal SD (2GB) is no longer mounted/accessible. It requires a reboot as a fix. I'm using the 2.7.6 base but even the later 3.2.8 Chinese release here mentions it as a bug. I'm guessing that is a kernel bug. These ROMs running some unique kernel that also works with Stock-based ICS ROMs but stock ICS ROMs don't work with it. I've conclude that Geno must have added some customisations to the ROM. I've also not managed to get init.d support working, even after modifying and repackaging the image's ramdisk to do the necessary calls. An updated kernel would help but unless someone has contact with Geno.Kolar then looks like using this ROM would come with that one serious bug. Edited June 14, 2013 by Paulzie
Guest smweb Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Have you checked if something like Ouch kernel works with this one?
Guest sedj Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 (edited) If you could upload what you have would be great, something for me to nob around with just as a stop gap till i bite the bullet and go chinky quad core :) If not i will understand as it will take a while to up 150mb. Thanks for the research. I normally use Miui-GB which is fast and good, ICS needs OK-ing and I'm glad you found the kernel for that. With OK kernel the performance is just like the GB version, too bad about the SD card bug.
Guest kyoiorikof97 Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Can anyone tell what is the gaming performance of this rom...?
