Orange SF2, unable to properly tether

Hi,

Ive been having trouble...

Running 2.3.5 orange branded o/s

When I enable wifi or USB tethering, I can successfully connect to the phone as a modem via either method, but there is no internet access...

It appears that once the phone is being used as a tether, the 3G becomes diabled. Am I missing a setting

Obvious things like "Data enabled" are toggled, and i have tried GSM and the other options, please help
