Chinese ICS Firmware and Google Apps?

Just wanted to know if there is any way of install all of Googles services (framework, gmail, play store, ect) without installing Clockwork Recovery Mod?

The phone is rooted so there's nothing stopping me just copying stuff directly to the system partition I just have no idea what to copy or even where to get the files from...

I don't really want to go down the clockwork recovery route as it seems a bit overkill just to install Google services plus I don't know where to start with it and don't really want to replace the bootloader just yet.

You could extract the Google apps zip and take the apps out, and push them individually, making sure you follow what is done in the updater-script.

Or you could install ClockworkMod to do this stuff for you, like it's meant to. :P

clockworkmod is really important if your rooted in my option, it can easily bring your phone back to life from a soft brick...

for instance when your copying stuff to the system partition your phone might fail to boot up again...

with clockwork you can still boot into recovery and restore a backup or re-flash a rom making your phone boot and work again...

you would be taking a big risk messing with the system partition without a backup or a way to restore,

If you want to find them, just search in Google: gapps ics (or gingerbread, it depends what version of android you have)

And clockwork recovery is 100% safe with the newer ICS firmware? I don't want to accidentally brick my phone :)

Nothing is ever 100% safe but you will still be able to use the ICS updates (even more so).

OK fair enough I just built up the courage and just installed clockwork recovery, easier than I expected and appears to work... my Google apps are now back :)
