Guest nabby21 Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Hi all. Well my problem is, I plug in the usb cable to my blade and after abit of fiddling (think I have a sketchy port) it charges. However it does not register on my windows 7 64 bit PC as a "recognized" device. I get an error message saying device cannot be recognized and that it may have malfunction etc etc(in windows). I have cleaned the port, and as it charges, I dont think this is the issue. But can someone please help as I have files I want to transfer urgently to put new rom on etc. Its on my PC, and need to get the zip file on SD card. Much appreciated, Nabby
Guest hydo1 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Sounds like you have a broken USB connector, not all of the pins of a micro USB are used for power (only two in fact, the rest are for data transfer etc), this means that the device can charge but if the data pins are damaged (I think they are the ones in the centre of the connector) then the phone will not be able to mount as USB storage because there is no data circuit between your PC and the phone. This could also be caused by a faulty USB lead, it may be worth your while using a different one (especially if it is the standard ZTE lead because I broke mine, I don't think the leads are up to much). If this does not fix it, think yourself lucky that it is the data transfer that's died and not the power transfer (I would be very careful when plugging in the lead from now on to avoid killing it completely), you could always get a micro SD to USB adapter and connect the SD to your PC directly. Also if you have changed ROM's recently that may be to blame.
Guest nabby21 Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 Thanks for all your help! I have it sorted now! The solution was the quickest/easiest of the lot. It has appeared the "tongue" in my usb port had be push up slightly, so I used a flat head screwdriver to centralize it, now it connects perfectly every time :) Such a relief! Now to speed the slow thing up and improve camera. Any ideas? Thanks again for all responses, Nabby
