how to do o2x gb update

I recently got o2x on nice deal. The o2x comes with android 2.2 version and I am aware that LG had released the 2.3 update long back.

I would like to know if its possible to do OTA update to 2.3 from 2.2? or its only possible through LG PC Suite? The person receiving the phone is using linux with no access to windows so looking of ways to update to 2.3 stock rom. Please dont tell me to root and load the custom rom. I know that option but this phone is not being delivered to me and I have to kinda call and ask the other guy how to update so forget rooting and custom rom :)
