Guest Smiff2 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) er, help! started getting this error tonight. it's an android popup box. have rebooted phone. have toggled airplane mode. have tried reconnecting from network search. anoother phone on same network works fine (GiffGaff ) shows some signal bars. can't dial any number > this error not sure what else? could try another ROM, but why would it suddenly stop working? ROM is b888 deodexed (Paul GR1 i think) Edited July 11, 2012 by Smiff2
Guest fr0do Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Problem with your local masts/ provider?
Guest Smiff2 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 ah, those network bars show even with no SIM in, so that's misleading. also, if starting phone w/o SIM it does say "insert sim" and "emergency calls only" - so the SIM was being detected ok.. erm?
Guest Hogweed Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) Huge O2 problem right now. http://www.theregist...network_issues/ http://www.bbc.co.uk...nology-18801300 http://community.gif...12/td-p/5055274 http://community.o2....Feedback/bd-p/4 I lost data and still haven't got it back since I rebooted phone earlier so if you have data now on an O2 network, don't reboot. I still have calls and texts but the symptoms vary and many are reporting no service at all. And yes sometimes a phone right next to you on the same network will work fine - until it doesn't. Guest Smiff2 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) yeah i heard O2 were having problems, but because my other phone on same network works fine, i assumed it's the phone.. possibly not? will try sim swap to confirm! "One punter in Nottinghamshire said they had no reception but their sister in the same house had full bars of signal." right sorry guys.. network problem indeed. confirmed with sim swap. phew. sorry! Guest JRow Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 And yes sometimes a phone right next to you on the same network will work fine - until it doesn't. I've been having no service all day on my giffgaff sim,yet swap giffgaff for my O2 sim and get full signal and service - i was thinking i'd knackered up my network settings somewhere 'til i saw the o2 problems on the news tonight, then saw the 190 page thread on the giffgaff site :) (the vitriol, overreaction and general stupidity of some people over losing mobile connection for a few hours is something to behold :) )
Guest runlevel5 Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 it has provoked a strong reaction.also, some other forums are reporting that two out of three o2 based phones within the same house are without service but the third is working fine.I'm o2 and not had any problems as yet.
Guest Hogweed Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 I lost calls and SMS as well as data shortly after my post above. I now have calls/SMS but still only GPRS/EDGE. A bandwidth test shows I currently have 2k bit/sec download speed! Latest status update says 3G is slowly being restored, That's an outage lasting over 24 hours for many people. Heads should roll.
