Guest HuaweiAscend Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Hello, I've seen one report of this in the B927 thread, but after having a great day with ICS, I've come to download some of my other apps from Google Play. I'm getting "your device is not compatible with this application" for a few basic apps, such as Natwest, Barclays and a few others. Has anyone got a clue why this would be, or how I can overcome it? If there's no cure, looks like it's back to my B888 backup :( Cheers.
Guest Andymac1969 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I am having the same problem, typical it's the apps I use the most  I also may have to downgrade
Guest wrtease Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 try this it might help Market cannot download and Google Talk login failed to fix this, go to manage application and do clear data for :DownloadGoogle Backup TransportGoogle Services FrameworkGoogle TalkReboot
Guest HuaweiAscend Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 If I go into Google Play on my Mac, it shows: This app is compatible with some of your devices. T-Mobile HUAWEI HUAWEI U8815 This item is not compatible with your device. Vodafone ZTE Crescent Interestingly, it shows compatible with the "Vodafone ZTE Crescent" which was a T-Mobile Vivacity, but not the U8815. Where does Google get the device name from? The ZTE was never on Vodafone.
Guest Hogweed Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Have you tried clearing data in App Manager for Google Play Store? That's been reported to work on other ICS devices when they get this error? Also comments elsewhere about non-default pixel densities confusing things. Maybe nothing to do with this but worth a try maybe. Strange it works with B826 but not B827. What's the difference other than device ID and a slightly newer kernel? Edited July 16, 2012 by Hogweed

I saw your suggestion for this earlier, and no luck unfortunately. :(
Guest Mtman1 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I don't think banking apps work with root. I remember seeing a thread somewhere saying its a security risk...

Guest Hogweed Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) How about editing build.prop to make it identify itself as lthe U8818 rather than the U8815 variant as in B826? You'd need root for this but you can unroot afterwards if it works, Edited July 16, 2012 by Hogweed

Guest Rico_89 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Just a shot in the dark but does your google play app need updating itself?
Guest HuaweiAscend Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I checked for updates through it, and nothing showed. Does the Natwest and Barclays apps show for you?
Guest Andymac1969 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I checked for updates through it, and nothing showed. Does the Natwest and Barclays apps show for you? It does show, but says it's incompatible with the device
Guest HuaweiAscend Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Exactly the same. Did you use B926 before? Did they work on there?
Guest Andymac1969 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Exactly the same. Did you use B926 before? Did they work on there? Barclays worked, but only after I unrooted the phone on B926, the apps I am having problems with worked fine on B926, but cannot even download them on B927
Guest HuaweiAscend Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Hmmm, so it is certainly a B926-B927 change. Very unusual. What other apps are you having difficulties with?

Guest HuaweiAscend Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I didn't realise there was ITV Player available, never seen it on GB.
