Guest davelogiks Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) Hi all First of all apologies for my first post to the forum being a request for help! I have a G300 with unlocked bootloader, cwm & B926 ROM. Due to some issues (quiet speaker, digits not appearing in the dialer even though you hear the DTMF tone for that digit, some general jerkiness) I want to downgrade to B888. Unfortunately every method I try to change the ROM is failing. If I try to upgrade to B927 via Storage/Software Update/SD Card then it freezes part way through. I've also tried downgrading to B888 the same way with the same result. I have tried the two downgrade methods described on this forum, the one with the Huawei app (freezes about a third of the way through) and the other where you take an IMEI backup and then try to downgrade via the bootloader, which results in freezing about 1/4 of the way through. Is there something I have missed or misunderstood? Thanks in advance for any help. Edited July 17, 2012 by davelogiks
Guest rosco-85 Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I have the same issues updating to B927 from B926, so I'm about to try the IMEI method. When performing the IMEI method did you follow the exact steps? Cause one tiny difference can be the end of your phone, apparently.
Guest davelogiks Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I followed the steps yes. Didn't brick my phone bit didn't manage to downgrade.
Guest rosco-85 Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 What does your error log say in dload folder? Something along the lines of 'new partition sames as old'?
Guest davelogiks Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I don't have the log available now. I'll let you know if I end up going through the process again.
Guest davelogiks Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Does anybody have any suggestions for getting back to a Gingerbread based ROM from B927? Phone is rooted, unlocked bootloader and clockworkmod installed but I can't find what I need to do to successfully downgrade.
Guest rosco-85 Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I'm sure that guy Gary that wrote the guide on the IMEI method would be able to help you... Hopefully he sees your post!
Guest davelogiks Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I've now got his B927 cwm rom working nicely. It still seems to miss some digits when dialling but everything is sorted and it's also a very clean Rom, so I'll stick with it probably.
Guest luvvt Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) This works http://www.modaco.co...on-bypass-hack/ After you backed up your emei did you restore the with the g300 downgrade emei ??? Edited July 18, 2012 by luvvt
Guest rosco-85 Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 I'm just about to attempt this myself as couldn't get the ROM to flash normally from B926 > B927 (even with the middle part). Is this the issue you had? Did you get successfully flashed using IMEI method?

Is this the issue you had? Did you get successfully flashed using IMEI method? That is the same problem I had and recovering my IMEI number to zero allowed me to then install the B927 UPDATE.APP. As soon as it was finished loading I then Rooted/Unlocked Bootloader and recovered my original IMEI number. It's risky, but it will work, just make sure you have all your files where they need to be and ready to go. Ie unlockbootloader exe, adb drivers working, toolbox5irom.apk etc. Edited July 18, 2012 by Rico_89
Guest rosco-85 Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Thanks! Going to give it a go this evening... I think as long as I make sure I've definitely got the IMEI backup saved to my PC and my SD Card, then hopefully the risk will be minimal. I've not read of anyone on here messing this up yet, touch wood!

Guest davelogiks Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 I managed to install B927 using the info here: It's a nice rom, fast with no bloat.
Guest rosco-85 Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Looks good actually! Might be the better way forward...
Guest rosco-85 Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Just completed successful upgrade using the IMEI method! Couple of weird things happened with phone though... 1) After I backed up IMEI and restored the one in the folder, my IMEI was still the original, even after reboot. However I could not unlock SIM. 2) Managed to do the B927 upgrade no problem, followed by the vendor. 3) After upgrade IMEI was now '0' but I had full use of my phone (signal data etc). 4) Re-rooted and restored IMEI, rebooted and IMEI was back to original. 5) After re-boot lost Vendor update and Unicom Chinese splash was back. 6) Reflashed Vendor and all is good again! Couple of worrying moments, but glad I did it!

After I installed the IMEI from the folder and rebooted, it just kept booting into CWM, so I have no idea what my IMEI number actually was at that point LOL. I bet you're relieved, I know I was when it was all over. I had a few moments myself where if I could have, I would have stopped the procedure and just left 926 installed, but just like you when it was all over I was glad I did it. Pheew.
