REMOVED DOWNLOAD LINK DUE TO RECOVERY WIPING SDCARD - WILL RETURN WHEN CWM6 is more stable.

This is a guide to install ClockworkMod recovery v6 for our Skates - both touch and non touch.

Please note that v4 backups are not compatible with this version of CWM.

YOU NEED TO RUN A CM BASED ROM TO USE THIS GUIDE

So you are on ClockworkMod v4 or v5 - how do you get to v6?

  1. Download your chosen recovery - v6.0.0.9 - touch or non touch - REMOVED DOWNLOAD LINK DUE TO RECOVERY WIPING SDCARD
  2. In terminal emulator:
    • su
    • erase_image recovery
    • flash_image recovery /sdcard/<YOUR RECOVERY IMAGE HERE>

  • Reboot into recovery and you should have CWM 6 running!

    Bugs:
    Touch:

    • None I can spot
    • Non-touch:

        [*]None I can spot

How about 5.5 backups, they're compatible or not?

Got a problem (non-touch version): phone shuts down (power off, not reboot) after "Freeing space.." when making backup.

Seems strange - just finished OK with touch version. But not sure that's properly made: it has a strange small files ".android_secure.vfat.dup" and "sd-ext.ext4.dup" instead of normal co-named tarballs and a "blob" folder with a lot of files into root "clockworkmod" folder. Tilal, is it normal or something going wrong?

I think that's meant to happen, looking at the code. Happens to me as well.

No touch version completes but has error messages:

E:Can't open /tmp/recovery.log

E:Can't find misc

Then when attempt mount USB storage:

E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)

And, after reboot sdcard partition is totally empty

Just tried both - it worked.

Found reason of problems in my case: sd-ext partition. After trying touch version I lose data on it so decide format SD completely. After doing that backup works fine, but if I create sd-ext partition problem returns back.

Worked like a charm!

But what are the benefits over the previous versions....

Faster backups, better looking, delete backups, better performance, touch navigation (if you choose)

I've flashed touch version, reboot into recovery, it appears and then after 5 seconds I get a blank screen and nothing happens.
