Guest fraska Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 Hi to all, actually i've got a Nokia 701 but i'm interested in change to an Android phone. I will buy an Huawei Ascend G300 and let me know some things: 1. This phone has got official ICS update? 2. How much RAM is available when phone is turned on? 3. The root is available, what is the easiest way for a new user? 4. How does Huawei with the root? Void your warranty? 5. How long is the battery life? 6. There are porting of CyanogenMOD ROM? Thanks to all :)
Guest clarkkov Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) 1. No 2. Depends on the applications you use, if you're completely stock and you don't fire up any app you will have approximately 150MB of RAM free - but this doesn't actually matter in Android. 3. Yes, via unlockbootloader.exe app if you're on ICS or via this http://www.modaco.co...-mac-and-linux/ method 4. Huawei has nothing to do with this, your network operator does. Read your terms and conditions of terminal device use for your operator. 5. Excellent, average use gives you full 48Hrs of battery life 6. Yes, but camera does not work Edited July 21, 2012 by clarkkov
Guest Chrisund123 Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 2. How much RAM is available when phone is turned on? In linux/android, the saying goes "free RAM is wasted RAM". Windows memory management is very different to Linux, many people get alarmed when they see practically no free memory on a linux device but its perfectly normal to have most it being used.
Guest Beavers Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 This phone is getting an official ICS upgrade 'soon'.
Guest fraska Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 Thanks to all. Another two questions: stock ROM lags? Wich is\are best ROMs?
Guest clarkkov Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 Thanks to all. Another two questions: stock ROM lags? Wich is\are best ROMs? Stock GB does not lag, there are reports that ICS lags a bit but if you know how to set it up correctly it will be smooth as butter. That's personal preference, I personally like stock ROMs without bloatware, l believe the CM9 will be the best but only when it get's to the fully functional version
Guest fraska Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 Thanks, i know CM9 but there's an official topic of CM9 porting on G300?
