Hi guys,

Ok, I bought my girlfriend an Orange San Francisco last year, I flashed it with Swedish spring. Close to christmas 2011 she dropped it down the toilet, quickly grabbed it out and checked to see if it still worked! (doh)

Anyway, I had a quick look at it and It was just producing a white screen. Opened it up and took it apart and let it dry. After a few days I reassembled it and the screen didnt come on nor any lights. I gave up and bought her the T Mobile vivacity as a replacement.

So I came across the blade just yesterday when I was having a clear out. Thought hey Ill have another look at it, its already dead so what is there to loose.

I have managed to get it recognised in ADB, I have tryed flashing it again, using fastboot and it flashed fine, so now all that is on it is clockworkmod i presume, as it just shows up in ADB as "? recovery".

I say presume because the screen still doesnt work or any lights.

It will turn on when usb is connected, and it virbrates once when the power button is pressed.

Before I tryed reflashing it, I think it did boot fine into Swedish spring, I was able to call it and even answer the call by swiping blindly in just the right place. I could even hear myself talking in the earpiece and the mic worked fine too.

So really all that is up is no lights at all, and dead screen. I have seen some replacement LCD's on ebay, I am just wondering if its worth getting one, if it will indeed cure the screen problem, but what about the lights, buttons etc.

Thanks

Whether it is worth it depends a lot on your personal circumstances. From a quick scan of eBay it looks like you can pick up a second hand device for roughly the same price of a new LCD. Since the LCD isn't guaranteed to fix your issues I'd say give up any idea of repairing it, sell it as "non working - for parts" and if you really want another dated arm6 device pick up a second hand one on eBay.

Yea to be honest its just something to tinker with, not really worried if I don't get it fixed.

I see what you mean about second hand devices for not much more than the LCD. Food for thought.

I just thought as it wasnt completely dead, and I could access it through ADB I could have a chance of fixing it.

Cheers for your input.
