Guest v1nn1e Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I have noticed that the phone doesn't sync automatically with the web server any more. I set to sync every hour but at the end of the day if I do a manual send/receive emails, It will pick up emails received early in that day that should have automatically been popped. This used to be fine, dont know what is causing it, the update, the orange decert? My GPRS is fine so it shouldn't have troubles establishing a connection. Anyone else experience this?
Guest Carnivor Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 i've noticed this, also i have never seen a auto sync ever happen when jsut looking at the phone.
Guest v1nn1e Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I used to see it auto sync before! Have you never seen it do it. Something has made it stop doing this, I think it was since i hard rest and done oranges over the air decert!
Guest Tiggercam Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Yep. Mine used to do it reliably, but seems to have stopped recently. My SPV isn't decertified, so it's not that....
Guest fraser Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 OK, first off, after a reboot, you must perform a manual send and receive before automatic syncing takes place. Otherwise, the Outlook process won't even be running. Secondly, "Kill all non-sys apps" in Task Manager will exit the Outlook process and there'll be no more syncronising until you do a manual one again. Knowing this, I've got it working perfectly. Might disable it when we have to start paying for GPRS though. See my post in the "Wishlist" forum about a feature request that would sort all of these problems out.
Guest kevlar Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I have to dissagree with you there. I have updated my phone, and decerted it, my spv still checks for emails after ' kill all non system apps' in task manager. Kevlar
Guest fraser Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I'm running version 1.0.3 of the Task Manager, what are you using Kevlar?
Guest kevlar Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Whatever the latest version is. Just incase I am mistaken, I'll downgrade my statement to ' 99% certain ' I'll double check and let you know. Kevlar
Guest v1nn1e Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Surely that can't be. So when microsoft were programming this OS, they expected us to have already opened the inbox and to have send/received after turning on the phone just so the automatic sync would work from then on?
Guest fraser Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 It is good in some ways, allows you to control when the checking takes place. Handy for when we have to start paying for GPRS.
