Guest Richie M Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I haven't seen this discussed here before; just found this SpaceMaker LITE (not by IA ) I downloaded the trial and ran it first time it says it has cleared up 75636 bytes
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Looks interesting :? i've just tried it and it said it has reclaimed 9999 files and 92,020 bytes clicked ok then re-ran it and just by doing that it now claims it's recovered 108,404 bytes??? Is windows really creating 15k of junk just by closing and restarting one app?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 100k isn't all that much... Presumably it clears things like Temp and your PIE cache etc...
Guest midnight Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 100k is nothing at all, even less with Richies whopping 70k saved heheh, ooooh
Guest Richie M Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 hay, 70k is 70k, thats bigger than some apps  first time i ran it it said 9999 files aswell, but size was obviously different. Still a nice little app to have ;)
Guest midnight Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 not really, theres 50k's worth of temp files loaded up each time windows is loaded, by the way, if windows ever needs to access these files again it creates them again, so the 50k saved during bootup will be saved, then created again, so sometimes its a false reading, also, it may slow the phone down everso slightly cos it has to create these files again. possibly
Guest Richie M Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Your such a Kill-Joy some times Mid'y
Guest midnight Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 hehehe, sorry  it is a handy app if you dont hard reset once a month like me and you install/uninstall a lot of apps
Guest Richie M Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 hehehe, sorry  Hey, i've told you before, stop laughing at me ;) sorry Mono, back on Topic people :(
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Tut tut. (as i already pointed out, i also see this as a little pointless...)
Guest v1nn1e Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 What are the restrictions on the 'try it' version? trial period? So it runs at startup, deletes the files, logs the files, then turns off? is this correct?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Seems to me, that someone with just a lil coding abillities could do this fairly easy! Of course I know nothing of the kind ... So it runs at startup, deletes the files, logs the files, then turns off? is this correct? It runs as startup, deletes files and keeps running in the background I believe .. hmmm or at least you can run it like any normal app, if you don't soft reset a lot!
Guest v1nn1e Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 If it is runnig in the background, how comes it doesn't appear in task manager?
Guest Richie M Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 as far as i can remember it doesn't run in the background - just runs when you request it :?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Direct quote from the page: "Every time you turn on your Smartphone, then this application goes into action (in the background) to clear out garbage that Windows CE has created " I skimmed the text too fast and read these lines as being two different commands *bonk self*
Guest Richie M Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Oh, maybe thats the full version :? i'll have to read up on it though
