Guest rawmint Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 Hi, I really like the messaging/contact apps that come with the G300. Do they have names and are they available to download on Google Play? The reason I ask is I've just given my old Orange SanFrancisco to my mum and she can't cope with it but she can with my G300. The reason is an addition of a big 'add contact' button on the messaging app rather than having to type the name out and letting the keyboard take up more real-estate. . Also, the keyboard app that comes with it is called TouchPal Input and has great big keys, a proper spacebar and you don't hit the smiley key when you press backspace. The new version of TouchPal that I downloaded for the San Francisco is called Keyboard and it's rubbish in comparison and has the same old problem as the standard keyboard with the tiny spacebar and the backspace that is too close to the smiley key.
Guest rawmint Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 When I go into the apps list it's just called Contacts and has a non-standard blue folder icon and it's version 5
Guest Davidoff59 Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 Best bet is download one of the cwm flashable early roms and they are stored in system/apps. It's just name contacts.apk but you will probably also need contact provider apk also. extract it on your pc and take what you need.
Guest Cyda Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 On a similair note, does anyone know the file name of the favourites widget in ICS? Its one of the few decent contact widgets that doesn't require a specific launcher and it is missing from Infusion ROM so I'd like to put it back...
Guest Peninsula Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 I do not know if you're running 2.3 or 4.0, but if its 4.0 the apps you're asking about are the AOSP People and Messaging apps. Do a google for the apks and install. BUT make sure they are compatible with your other phone (if it's on 2.3 the AOSP 4.0 apks will not work - maybe try the Gingerbread AOSP apps). The phone you're installing on must be rooted, and will have to be pushed to system/app with permissions rw-r--r--, replacing the apps already there. Read up on it first!

I thought it came as part of AOSP People apk. Ask Tillaz...?
Guest Peninsula Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 I'm running 2.3 :) If you're running 2.3 on the G300 then the apps are modified Google apps made by Huawei. Your options are either: Copy the apks out of the system/app folder on the G300 (you will need root access). Then install as above (rw-r--r--) on the SanFran. I can't tell you if this will definitely work as they're made by different companies so make a backup of the apps and a Nandroid on the SanFran!! Hopefully the app names on each phone are the same. Otherwise google for the AOSP Gingerbread 2.3 versions of the Contacts and Messaging apps and install on the SanFran. They might be better than the ones on there. Again make a backup (preferably a Nandroid) before messing with system apps. Let me know what happens...
Guest Peninsula Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 P.S. no responsibility accepted by me for any problems this might create. These apps are not system critical so should not cause any problems. Always Nandroid!
Guest seb.l Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 (edited) hi i'm also searching to re install the favorit contact widget which is in B934 and before rom but not in INFUSION. Idid not found any apk for the G300 searching on google. If someone got the apk, can he give a link ? thanks best regards seb Edited August 27, 2012 by seb.l
Guest sandrogp Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 (edited) If you request these apps in the thread dedicated to Infusion instead, Tillaz might include them in the add-ons list of the second post of that thread. And more people will benefit! Edited August 27, 2012 by sandrogp
