Guest BigBlue007 Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I've created some operator logos for the SPV. See here for a description how to use the logos. Have fun!
Guest Lojt Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Took me a while to find on midnights site, so heres what you need: IMAGE TWEAKS Changing the Operator Logo (Dial and In-Call) WARNING: watch what you are doing with this, cos i managed to totally reset my phone, incluing turning certification back on, so change this at your own risk Theres two operator logo's ('orange' on my phone) you can change that are displayed while typing in the number, and the logo that is there while in-call. The logo size must be 176 x 20, and the file must be a GIF file. And the file MUST be on the phone, NOT the SD card. And here's the Registry Setting: The Logo that appears while dialing: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSCdial Select 'Values' Select 'BannerImage' and change the Value data to the location of the logo (eg., IPSMdial.gif if the logo is saved in the IPSM folder and is called 'dial.gif') The Logo that appears while In-Call: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSCprog Select 'Values' Select 'BannerImage' and change the Value data to the location of the logo (eg., IPSMcall.gif if the logo is saved in the IPSM folder and is called 'call.gif') you have to reboot your phone now for the changes to take place. btw, made this for fun in paint:
Guest mcwarre Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 btw, made this for fun in paint: Nice one. If there was an official MoDaCo logo we could use that! Paul :?: :?: :?: :?:
Guest lutzh Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 hi there, would it be possible to integrate that logos somehow in to the homescreen so that it shows up if i am connected e.g. to vodafone and then the logo comes up instead of the letters? that would be very cool - challenge is out for you, midnight.... cheers, lutz
Guest Richie M Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 hi there, would it be possible to integrate that logos somehow in to the homescreen so that it shows up if i am connected e.g. to vodafone and then the logo comes up instead of the letters? that would be very cool - challenge is out for you, midnight.... cheers, lutz That would have to be done via a homescreen plug-in  Which someone would have to code, as i havent seen any custom plug-ins yet i wouldn't hold your breath
Guest Flex0r Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Just a little logo/text .. 1 Uk and 1 DK... Peace out ...dial-uk.gifdial-dk.gif
Guest lutzh Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 well, coding a homescreen isnt that hard, i always do my homescreen costumised. but the question is, if its possible to integrate a gif or anything like this. the full layout icludes icons, but that are numbered standard icons (e.g. 61, 62, 63, 64). look at the xml code of my homescreen (see the bold part!). it also says , why not saying something like "icon"? <?xml version="1.0"?> Microsoft Corporation http://www.microsoft.com/ 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 0404Full 1.0 Call in progress: Call in progress: Appel en cours: Anruf in Ausführung: Chiamata in corso: Chamada em curso: Llamada en curso: 正在呼叫: Actieve oproep: Igangværende opkald: Missed calls: Missed calls: Appels manqués: Verpasste Anrufe: Chiamate perse: Chamadas perdidas: Llamadas perdidas: 未接电话: Gemiste oproepen: Mistede opkald: E-mail (), SMS () Email (), SMS () Email (), SMS () E-Mails (), SMS () E-mail (), SMS () Correio (), SMS () Correo (), SMS () 邮件 (), SMS () E-mail (), SMS () E-mail (), SMS () Calls Calls Calls Calls Calls Calls Calls Calls Messenger Messenger Messenger Messenger Messenger Messenger Messenger Messenger Notes Notes Notes Notes Notes Notes Notes Notes Tasks Tasks Tasks Tasks Tasks Tasks Tasks Tasks Profile: Profile: Profil: Profil: Profilo: Perfil: Perfil: 配置文件: Profiel: Profil: cheers, lutz
Guest Richie M Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Lutz, i said plug-in not homescreen! (plug-ins are what the homescreen uses to display information eg;clsid="{95976968-45D5-40c9-9779-2B859B1C2FEC}" thats the plug-in reference) As for the "icon" thats only used in the Shortcut plug-in and only valid for a very limited number ;) Hope thats a bit clearer
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Mine since midnight first discovered the key and mentioned it on IRC  : ;)
Guest lutzh Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 got it now, richie. but i want it soooo bad... :-) cheers, lutz
Guest midnight Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 errrr, doesnt different operators have different number prefixes? eg 07870 for orange? thats probably the only way this would be possible. in fact, its actually quite usefull, cos you know its cheaper to phone same network than cross network. only thing i can think of is a small app similar to whocall for outgoing numbers instead of incoming, so when you contact someone in your phone book it displays their picture again, along with a network logo if you so wish. just my thoughts
Guest lutzh Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 hi midnight, its not the idea i had but that sounds good too! i wanted a logo instead of the text for the operator i am connected to. cheers, lutz
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 errrr, doesnt different operators have different number prefixes? eg 07870 for orange? Fraid not  as quite a few people (myself included) have ported their numbers, so my number was a BTcellnet number, but now it's on Orange.
Guest arunhallan Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 what wud happen if i removed the operator logos (on accident) from wherever they were after doing the tweak? would my phone reset?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 They're in the Windows directory, and would be replaced on your next reboot
Guest midnight Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 oh i get what you mean, hmmmm, thats a good one, yeh, it may reset your phone, so dont remove em hehehe
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 quite a few people (myself included) have ported their numbers, so my number was a BTcellnet number, but now it's on Orange. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I read that ported numbers are charged as "foreign" numbers. If you were on BT, ported to Orange and an Orange user called you they'd be charged the rate to call BT. Most networks now do cross-network minutes anyway, so might not be an issue anymore

So, if someone on Orange called you on Orange (with your ported BT number) they would be charged for a "same network" call. Once the number has been ported BT has nothing further to do with it; all calls will be routed via the Orange network and go nowhere near BT (unless it's a BT user calling you! :) ). It's possible that some people were incorrectly billed when porting started, if thier phone companies' billing system was based on number prefixes rather than call routing the system may have made the wrong assumption.
