Guest glynton Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 OMG, can you see in the fisrt picture that Vodafone seem to have a version of MSN explorer on the phone? Why havent I got MSN explorer on the phone?!?!?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 MSN explorer is nothing to get excited about...
Guest glynton Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I use MSN explroer all the time. I think it's Great. (I have MSN 8) It would be nice to finally see it all fall together in an MSN sortt of way Glynton
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I have MSN, and use trillian pro ;p
Guest glynton Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 What's Trillian pro? Anyway... any word from MS as to when we can see MSN 8 for mobiles? Glynton
Guest glynton Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I wouldn't really have use for Trillian, but you know there's a freeware app out some where that does the same thing for the Smartphone. I can't remember what it's called, but there's been some good response from it!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 jabberCE? Same principles, and in my case Trillian gets less confused by NAT firewalls then Yahoo IM or MSN messanger (on my PC)
Guest vijay555 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 FYI: trillian is an instant messenger that connects to most of the popular networks transparently, and far better and more efficiently than the original programs. The pro version also has plugins and bells and whistles. But, the concept is sound and very well executed. V
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Bad news, they aren't even real screens, just mockups  P
Guest lutzh Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 msn client is coming to smartphones near you. it includes alerts, notifications, location based services and messenger. the bad news: they will charge you for it on top of your provider charges... why i know? i have specs for it... cheers, lutz
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Similar to the recent MS webcast where they demonstrated "Bill" meeting "Jane" or something for coffee, using MSN and a locator-type map? (Btw: welcome back bart, again ;p)
Guest lutzh Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 right, monolithix. but as far as i can see it will need a little time for all that. late this year or early next year... i really hate the fact that they will charge for that extra. i think its bringing extra airtime for the mobile services so they should share revenue instead of billing me for the fact that i wanna use messenger or lbs... but it will be very cool thats for shure. did you see every slide of the mobius? the friendfinder and all that stuff? there are some real cool applications coming round the corner... cheers, lutz
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I haven't seen everything...could you post or PM me some links? The MSN integration sounds great, what high-tech devices should be doing now. A damn shame they're gonig to charge for it ;)
Guest lutzh Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 i'll come back to you with details... the first big msn strike is the coalition here in germany between t-mobile and msn. they are going together from fall with things i was talking about. msn will deliver a msn 8 like client for smartphones (of course just the windows driven ones). i've seen a couple of specs of things they plan to do and there are a couple of pretty cool applications beneath them we know like messenger. i am waiting for a more pushed way of notifications and alerts which we dont have at the moment. i mean setting your inbox to check mail every hour or so is nice but not what we want at the end. we want to be notified when new messages arrive and not wasting airtime on checking if somethings there even if there's nothing... thats the notification stuff. another thing is the messenger alerts (like ebay end of auction, breaking news etc.., things that we already have on our desktops but not down the road). extra stuff like the friendfinder, where you get the distance to a friend in the city you are and his geocoordinates is very nice but do i really want to push that info e.g. to my wife while i hang around with other chicks;-)??? there are cool things coming and as it seems its vodafone for uk as t-mobile for germany who are on board for it. which is cool too since they first startet to develop their own sh!t like vodafone life and now coming down to adopt things that are already cool... and its pushing the technology that we love - smartphone.... cheers, lutz
