Guest Jon1971 Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 (edited) Hi Guys, I am trying to download a good copy of KonstaT's Swedish Snow RLS7 using the links at the top of this thread: http://www.modaco.co...e__hl__ konstat The problem I am having is that whichever way & no matter how many times I download & check KonstaT's posted checksum value for the download, I always get the same value returned & never get the value that KonstaT has posted. I have tried downloading, unpacking & copying the image file to my sdcard, then using a MD5 Checker from Google Play. I have also tried a number of MD5 Checkers downloaded directly to my PC & checked the file there. But, everytime I get the same value returned: 4e63f9c057c0022c5ba48b171901f1fe Whereas KonstaT records that the value should be: 9A583543F97BC6511C0E67089C806CD7 I thought that perhaps my network setup was causing a continual corruption of the download, so I have even tried downloading the file on a friends PC & gone through the same process, but I still get the same value returned. As a last resort, I contacted KonstaT, incase there may have been a problem with the server that the file was stored on. KonstaT kindly PM'd links to the files, but even these are returning the same wrong values. I have downloaded & checked the MD5 values of many, many files in the past, which have always returned the correct value, so I am at a loss. Am I doing something fundamentally wrong? I think I may have run out of ideas to try. Has anybody else had a similar problem? Any help in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou in advance. Guest KonstaT Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 ... unpacking ... Your problem is here. It's a clockworkmod flashable zip, you're not supposed to unpack it! 9A583543F97BC6511C0E67089C806CD7 is the correct md5 checksum for Swedish-Snow-RLS7.zip. 4e63f9c057c0022c5ba48b171901f1fe is md5sum of boot.img that's inside that zip.
Guest bladebuddy Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 Jon as I have helped you previously with this rom you do not flash as a image file/ TPT. You put the entire downloaded zip untouched onto you're sd card then go into CWM and wipe data factory/ cache partition/ and in advanced wipe dalvic then choose zip you want to flash then flash it. Sorry if I confused you by the advice l gave you this is not an image file you tpt like the last time. That was just to get you're phone working. This was to make sure you get a clean install of the rom to try and fix your speaker issue in case the TPT image file was corrupt in some way all be it very unlikely. NO NEED TO OPEN THIS DOWNLOAD. Put it as it comes on your sd card in the same place as before. Also some good advice delete the old image file off you're sd card as to stop unintentional re flashing that tpt file. Its OK to pm me if you get a little stuck.

Ahaa!... That explains EVERYTHING! Thankyou for pointing out my schoolboy error KonstaT :D I now completely understand why I have been battling with the MD5 value... what an idiot I am  Thankyou again KonstaT, for the help you have given me over the last couple of days :D Jon

I think I was definately getting confused between TPT & CWM flashing procedures  And thankyou for giving me an 'idiot proof' tutorial again. I'll give it a go tomorrow & hopefully all will be well :D Jon
Guest Jon1971 Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Hi bladebuddy, I have just completed the ROM flash whilst following your 'idiot's guide' & all seems to be well except I still have no sound :( I presume that this means that there is definately something wrong with the speaker & that it needs to be replaced? Thankyou again for getting me to this point, very much appreciated ;) Jon

Thankyou again for getting me to this point, very much appreciated ;) Jon That to me would suggest that there is something wrong with your device, try flashing another rom that is proven like Swedish Springs (or CM7) then see if sound is still dead, if it is then your speaker is probably bust. You are able to replace the speaker but it is buried a long way into the device so it will take a good bit of time to replace it (assuming you can get a replacement speaker).

Hi hydo1, Thankyou for your input :) I had previously installed the TPT version of Swedish Snow RLS7, which gave the result of no sound. That is why bladebuddy suggested I install the CWM version ofSwedish Snow RLS7, to eliminate any issues with the TPT version. Now I have installed the CWM version I am still getting no sound. Jon

Sounds like you've got dead hardware then :( Is it the headphone speaker (at the top for calls) or the main speaker on the side that is not working? The main speaker is replaceable (I have changed the entire casing on a blade and you have to remove the speaker from the casing to do it so it is possible. Then again you may want to update to a Huawei Ascend G300, they are unlockable and have attracted a large crowd of developers and will be getting Official ICS. Edited August 16, 2012 by hydo1

Hi hydo1, Just to eliminate everything, I've just installed Swedish Spring RLS5 & still have no sound for ringtones or media :( I have just checked the ear speaker & it is definately working :) I'd really like to keep the Blade in use, when it was fully working I absolutely loved it  It would seem that it is the main speaker that is the problem, do you / does anyone, know where spares are available?... I'd prefer new over used :D Jon
Guest hydo1 Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 This is what you're after: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZTE-Blade-Orange-San-Francisco-T-Mobile-Ringer-Loud-Speaker-Sound-Buzzer-Genuine-/220892396881?pt=UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item336e367d51#ht_1773wt_954 Also you can see where the speaker is in the bottom left of this picture an you can use to help you take it apart. Speakers do die in phones, I remember a long time ago when the speaker in my HTC Prophet (Orange SPV M600) died and I took it and an old nokia apart and salvaged the speaker from the nokia, soldered it to the lead for the Prophet and shabammed it back in the phone and problem solved. Unfortunately with the Blade it is not so simple but there we go.
