Windows Future Storage (mimics some aspects of the Yucon (SQL) file system (the bit MS have been working on for the last 10 Years!!)) right click on My Computer, click Manage and go for services. then disable the service (never runs again).

Seems that WINFS runs like a dog on VPCs....

Weren't the principles implemented in WINFS applied to the latest NTFS, but never utilised by XP? (You can attach "meta tags" to files for instance, and search by them...)

It will look NOTHING like that when it's done! Plex (the VS) is only a standin as the GUI is being replaced with GUI+ (powered by your GPU™). The whole desktop will basicly be made of flat, textured polygons!!! Well that's the idea at the moment... Of course the whole lot might change yet, At the moment think of it as WindowsXP+ so it's not REALLY Longhorn yet (Name guesing time now, i got Office 2003 right so lets call it Windows SX? or Windows 2004?)

Windows 2004 sounds scarily furtuistic...

And that method of "rendering" the GUI is gonig to hit old GFX cards hard...the first release of windows to need a high-ish end gfx card?

I don't think so, more to do with graphic memory i should guess, 3D GPUs, even things like Geforce MX range have a lot of grunt compaired to the 2d part of the chipset and by 2004/2005 the entry level PCs are gona kick the s*** out of topend PC's now. Put it this way, i have been putting off an upgrade until the second half of 2004 (so hard!!!).... What will kill older PCs will be the file system.... It's going to have a hell of a Min Spec....
