Guest Cyda Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Firstly, this is NOT my work. We have Geno.Kolar to thank for this kernel. Remember nothing is 100% safe - if YOU choose to install this YOU do so at YOUR own risk - if something goes wrong it is on YOU - make a nandroid backup! This is a custom kernel for the G300 which allows you to modify the CPU frequencies to improve performance and battery life. It should work with all ROMs based on ICS b926 or higher. To access these additional frequencies it is recommended that you use No Frills CPU Control. Features: I/O schedulers noop, cfg Govenors smartarseV2, interactive, conservative, userspace, powersave, ondemand, performance Available frequencys. 122Mhz, 245Mhz, 320Mhz, 480Mhz, 600Mhz, 806Mhz, 1.008Mhz, 1.075Mhz, 1.152Mhz, 1.228Mhz, 1.266Mhz, 1.305Mhz. Init.d support New to V2: Memory optimisations. Guest tillaz Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 cool, i might include this in the rom since its fully working :)
Guest Cyda Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 cool, i might include this in the rom since its fully working :) I'm using with infusion and it works sweet. My phone doesn't like 1.3 but 1.26 and lower are rock solid.
Guest wso277 Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Im using it with infusion too and everything seems fine. With omegamoon couldnt get to 1.3 too. Still need to try with this one.
Guest Cyda Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 With omegamoon couldnt get to 1.3 too. Yeah, the same. 1.26 seems the stable number on both for me.
Guest jontylol Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I can only get a max of 1.22, 1.26 ends up freezing after about a minutes use :/
Guest Cyda Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I can only get a max of 1.22, 1.26 ends up freezing after about a minutes use :/ I get the same with 1.3, yet others can clock 1.3 fine. The luck of the draw I guess... until we get voltage control at least. That said, even 1.22 is good. A stable 22% overclock is never bad.
Guest Rico_89 Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Does it feel any different? I mean do the apps open faster and is the general UI experience smoother? Also will this effectively wear out your phone faster? When I use my sat nav (Sygic) things get pretty hot at the back of the phone.

In theory yes , apps and ui should be faster but only slightly noticeably, one main benefit is game play, games that lag a little become smoother , could also help satnav pages render quicker. You're 1ghz processor is now running 25 per cent faster. As for damage to you're phone, there's people out there that don't recommended over-clocking, for me personaly my ZTE Blade has been over-clocked to death , and is two year's old this Xmas and is still running fine. That may be down to luck. The best policy is to use it only when needed which is what the governor settings help you with on apps such as" no frills cpu' e.t.c. Or set it manualy when needed. It's a nice extra to have either way.
Guest samjam Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 It will only improve situations where the CPU was at 100% utilisation. Often the CPU is not, because running processes are waiting for IO to complete - reading or writing to storage, or the network, or waiting for user input. In such 100% situations, if the workload is fixed then it will complete sooner and should therefore not consume additional battery. If the workload is not fixed, but a game that plays until you quit, then as has been said you may get smoother gameplay as more intermediate stages can be computed or displayed. This will consume batter faster.
Guest Nesli Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Strange, On Omegamoon kernel, I can get rock stable 1,26ghz, with geno I had reboot, only stable is 1,22ghz :/
Guest Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I set the speed to 1266MHz and the phone just froze after some time, so I'll have to do some reinstalling before trying out the 1220MHz version. Thanks anyway for this awesome kernel
Guest Hans Gruber Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I can't imagine those 40mhz are making a huge difference
Guest samjam Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I can't imagine those 40mhz are making a huge difference That reminds me of the year when a 386DX40 motherboard and CPU came into my price range. 40MHz.
Guest toge64 Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I can't seem to get hspda speeds with this kernel - my phones phone signal bar always says G. Any ideas?
Guest Cyda Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) I can't seem to get hspda speeds with this kernel - my phones phone signal bar always says G. Any ideas? Working fine here at HSPA:11. Edited August 18, 2012 by Cyda
Guest wso277 Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I seem to be having random reboots with 1.266, didn't have them with omegamoon kernel. Going to lower it down to 1.228 and see if it stops.
Guest MioCZ Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) Hmm, something is different on overclocking with this kernel. IMHO also DDR is overclocked (@1228, DDR 400 MHz [RAM Antutu from 266 to 396], ???FSB@200??? and Adreno@???) It limits max CPU overclock because other parts have no enough reserve. But it is much effective overclock all parts and after it CPU alone. So we need someone to combine both methods in one kernel :-) Edited August 18, 2012 by MioCZ
Guest luismiyu Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 (edited) I confirm this kernel working in my G300. Bluetooth (car included), flashlight and camera. Now I'm testing OC and stability :D 3459 Antutu @ 1,22 GHz with a lot of processes running and 10 hours without rebooting, not bad at all ^^ Edited August 20, 2012 by luismiyu
Guest PACOSH Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 ehm... stupid question.. where is the option to setup the clock speed? i flashed cwm zip and was expectin sum kind of 'menu' but nothing happened... nothing in system settings neither.. help?? ;)
Guest Dazzozo Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 If you're using a stock ROM then you'll have to get an app like SetCPU to do it.
