What is stored on sd-ext

I can't restore ext3 backup to ext4 partition as it keeps diverting itself to ext3 after restoring. So I was wondering what exactly is stored on the sd-ext?

Is there anything important stored on it as I cannot restore it and have to start a clean ext partition.

I think it depend of which metod you use (link2sd, app2sd...)

oh yeah, I was using ad2sdx. I only know that it stores app and dalvik memory but I'm not so sure if there is anything important or worth restoring

only apps cache and data, maybe apps themselves, so nothing special.
