Guest ChrisPNE Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) I am having a problem with the officially supplied Huawei charger. The phone seems to charge properly when I use only the official charger and USB cable. If I then use a 3m USB extension cable the phone seems to rapidly lose charge and the charger makes a faint hissing/buzzing sound it does not make during normal operation. If I then use the same USB extension in conjunction with my old HTC charger I have no problems at all and the phone charges normally. Both chargers seemingly have the same specifications so I can't figure out the issue. Am I dealing with a faulty charger or is this something that many have experienced? Thank you in advance for any replies. Edited August 23, 2012 by ChrisPNE
Guest Davidoff59 Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 is it a usb charging cable as I am pretty sure charging and usb data cables are wired differently. Also the Huawei charger is 1 amp, no idea what your Htc one is or what the extension cable is rated at. The fact that it makes these noises on the extension tells you to not use it.

Trust me, I didn't use it for long. :-P My understanding was that data cables are fine for charging. I've been using the same cable with my HTC charger for the past two years with no problems whatsoever. Both chargers say they have 5V 1A outputs. I shall test them with my meter when I get home from work tomorrow.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 I have had blackberries that would not charge with a data cable so that's why I mentioned it. I have also seen people refer to ptoducts thinking they were plugged into pc for data transfer while on ment to be on charge
Guest dyjay2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 in my original cable noise occurs. what happens?

Guest Al_1604 Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 Must admit, I still have the original Huawei charger in the box the phone came in, I have so many micro-usb chargers and cables I just didn't need to unpack another one. If you have an HTC charger then just use it!
Guest Konstipated Kiwi Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 Aye, mine sometimes emits a whine as well. I recently purchased another mobile device that also sometimes emits the same noise when charging. Have never experienced this before, so strange that it is two things in the past few months.
Guest TangerineTractor Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Judging by the OP user name and logo, I'd politely suggest that his phone would work better with one of these.... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item232096c539 :P Edited September 19, 2012 by TangerineTractor

Guest Colossae3.23 Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 can't be the cable length can it? 3 metres is pretty long. I do know the longer the length the more juice it draws. try running a electric stapler on a cable longer than 30ft you'd know what I mean.
Guest TangerineTractor Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 And there was me thinking Lashers get offended every time tangerine is referred to as orange. Not as offended as when Nobbers are referred to as our rivals. :D
Guest Hogweed Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) The supplied cable isn't a standard USB lead A higher charge current is supplied when using the supplied charger and cable than using a standard usb cable.. Edited September 19, 2012 by Hogweed
Guest belmet Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) I have already mentioned in a previous post about the poor noise suppression from the Huawei charger and would strongly suggest moving to a non Chinese charger from a reputable brand such as Samsung or Sony. I use my sadly deceased Samsung gt8900i (omnia hd) charger on my g300 and yes I know many of their chargers are built in China but are manufactured to a better ie non Chinese spec. I know I'm bashing Chinese chargers here but believe me I have seen some terrible ones that would burn your house down given half a chance. the Huawei one is not far off one of those. Guest TangerineTractor Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 Poundland or Pound Zone is your friend! And a standard USB cable - they're all simple four wire things, and all ar capable of 5 volts no problem. If you'r repeatedly getting interference, then it's possibly a short either in the cable or the connector at one end or the other. Try having a good blow into the connector at the bottom of the phone. Having said that, some chargers produce a higher ampage and charge quicker - my wife's Samsung charger charges faster than the supplied one, so if you want a decent dedicated mains charger, get onto ebay and look for a genuine samsung charger for a Galay Ace or SIII, should only be three or four quid shipped... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SAMSUNG-ETAOU10UBE-MICRO-MAINS-CHARGER-GALAXY-ACE-S5830-/350586000307?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item51a08dd3b3
