Guest tracasan Posted August 26, 2012 Report Posted August 26, 2012 let me share a funny story with you guys. a few days ago i was taking a bath and my phone was at the edge of the bathtub cause i wanted to watch a movie during my bath. well that's kinda a recipe for disaster... as you all can guess the phone slipped an fell in the tub full of water... i took it out and it was still on but the volume began increasing and decreasing like crazy so i took the battery out, left it to dry and after that it was back to normal... well almost... at that time i was using Gingerbread and when i fired the phone back up, that potter unlock error happened and i was stuck on the lockscreen... did a bit of reading and i managed to fix that so all is well in the end. That's my story... anybody else has a screw up they wanna make public? :D
Guest Smiff2 Posted August 26, 2012 Report Posted August 26, 2012 you are very lucky.. quick battery pull and thorough dry. it's surprising the screen is still ok though!
Guest RussellS Posted August 26, 2012 Report Posted August 26, 2012 I must admit I frequently watch iPlayer on my phone while in the bath. I just know that one day it is going to slip out of my hands. Of course, that was until I upgraded to ICS which means that iPlayer is unwatchable now so I have to use my iPod Touch instead which will be even more expensive to replace when it drops in the bath.
Guest tracasan Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 you are very lucky.. quick battery pull and thorough dry. it's surprising the screen is still ok though! it was a surprise for me also. last two phones i dropped in water died on the spot... and those were only puddles; the g300 basically sat for like 3 or 4 seconds in like 60 cm of water
Guest peweleng Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I was painting the bathroom with my phone in a shirt pocket. I bent over and my G300 slipped out into the toilet!! It got a good soaking bu fortunately the toilet was clean and I grabbed the phone out, pulled the cover and battery and dried it off. Youtube taught me a good tip to use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the moisture from all the nooks and circuits which I think helped a lot. I probably should have waited longer but I switched the phone on after an hour. To my horror the Huawei logo appeared for a few seconds then the screen went black and stayed that way. so I took the back off again and left it for a day or so to dry out some more. Miraculously the phone seems to be fine now with no screen damage etc. That was a lucky escape! PS Russell you say you cant watch iplayer with ICS. I was thinking of upgrading from stock but I don't want to lose iplayer. Is it caused by flash compatibility problems?
Guest RussellS Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 (edited) I think so yes. I've read various reports from other sources where people have upgraded from gingerbread to ICS and then had problems with flash performance. This seems to be with various devices, even some highish end ones. To be honest, if you really want to keep using iPlayer then I wouldn't upgrade to ICS because iPlayer is unwatchable.
