Guest tillaz Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 i cant see anyone paying £230 for this when you can get a nexus 7 from Google for £159.99 with the best GPU around... not to mention you will always have the latest version of android from day one...
Guest Pondlife Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 I can see a fair few benefits to it, 10" and greater than 1080p screen, video out..
Guest tillaz Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 I can see a fair few benefits to it, 10" and greater than 1080p screen, video out.. i would still choose a nexus 7... least you know your getting quality software that will always be up to date, i really don't see the point in a 1080p display on a 10inch screen, until its connected to a tv.. 1080 x 1920 = the size of a video / max video size on display theses resolutions are intended for big screens, so the quality is not lost when stretched across a 40+inch tv etc... i think the ppi is more important when it comes to a display... like the phones retina display 330 ppi

Also the ppi is dependent on the resolution, the higher the resolution the more pixels per inch, So you saying you don't see the point in 1080p and then saying in the very next line that you thing ppi is more important is plain idiotic, if the resolution were lower for the same screensize, so would the ppi. + these cheap tablets are likely to get the interest of the modding community and will probably survive for a while thanks to the specs. (if anything its the size of the screen 10.1 etc) 3rd you are the one comparing it to a 7inch device by the sounds of it... and as for dev community... i would be surprised if it gets much attention.. look at the g300, best spec £100 smartphone... yet it has no forum on xda... and here on modaco, me and dazzo are the only active developers... and i will be gone in a month or two... leaving only 1 dev...
Guest Al_1604 Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Screenshots appear to suggest a K3V2 processor (can't be certain as my Chinese is about as limited as my Martian) which seems to be a pretty respectable piece of silicone: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/03/19/huaweis-quad-core-k3v2-processor-tops-benchmarking-charts-leaves-others-in-its-dust/

Resolution with regards to the screen size. 10.1'' is the size of the average tablet and for android tablets, there aren't any AFAIK that are over 1080p at this moment in time, so PPI wise this is as good as your top end android tablets. The iPhone only has 3.5'' of screenspace, so yes the PPI is much higher 4.3'' Razor Maxx with the same resolution. You were the one that mentioned that you didn't see the point in a high resolution screen: i really don't see the point in a 1080p display on a 10inch screen, until its connected to a tv.. And then in the next line you say PPI is more important. In order to get a higher PPI for a 10.1'' tablet than Huawei Mediapad 10, the resolution will have to be greater than 1080p: i think the ppi is more important when it comes to a display... I hope you see what I was trying to say. I never compared the tablet to the Nexus 7, I think the Nexus 7 is a great tablet and priced very well. I just thing that the Huawei is a great choice for people that want a 10.1'' tablet rather than a 7'' one. EDIT : And apologies for assuming that you were comparing the two devices, I use the infusion ROM you developed and am greatful for your contributions. I did not mean any offence. (if anything its the size of the screen 10.1 etc) Best not throw stones in glass houses. PPI (Pixels Per INCH) is directly related to screen resolution across screen size. One of the reasons the iPhones is so high is that the screen is comparativly tiny at 3.5" as apposed to the Razor max which has the same resolution but across a much bigger 4.3" screen. FYI the PPI on the above tablets its 218~ http://members.ping.de/~sven/dpi.html

Guest timfimjim Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 After my experience with the g300, seeing this with only ICS puts me off massively. No jb?? Are you being serious? And sure maybe they'll promise a jb update but we all know how that'll go and how long it'll take. By the time this comes out there will possibly be a new version of Android out anyway. For me a tablet should be all about speed and smoothness, and the nexus 7 is amazing for that (especially since being modded!). As far as specs go this does look good, but I think I'd stick with the smaller screen for less money and JB. Each to their own though!
Guest djashjones Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 where can you preorder to get this offer?

I'm not buying the nexus 7 as it has no SD slot and no rear camera. Also the £160 nexus 7 has only 8GB and not expandable!!! I have more than that on my phone right now,
