Guest HeikoH Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) G'day everyone out there! I've lately been trying out different ROMs on my Skate and decided to compare them performance wise. All my findings have so far been limited to 3 different CPU frequencies benchmarked with AnTuTu and Quadrant. I've also been trying to find out the battery life on each ROM with an application called Battery Benchmark (which can't really be considered a scientific way because of varying reception and other factors). I've been jotting everything down into a spreadsheet available on Google Drive. There is also a separate battery benchmarks spreadsheet here. (Only using Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 for this, sorry.) Note: I will make this post and the spreadsheet more formal once I've gathered enough benchmarks and your opinions (different benchmarking applications, frequencies etc). Guest omegavesko Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Great, very detailed spreadsheet. Personally, I think AnTuTu is the best performance benchmark, so keep using that. Don't know if a better battery life benchmark exists.
Guest HeikoH Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Thanks for the feedback! My main concern was battery life in the first place. According to this post I would have to use 6 benchmarking programs in order to get reasonable results, but lets just keep it to these 3 at the moment. I will try to add a few more ROMs to the list tomorrow.
Guest razzmataz1478 Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Can you please do max speed 902 MHz with sim in, I'd be interested to seen the difference.
Guest HeikoH Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 I for once forgot to set the CPU setting back to the stock ones and I've noted that in the spreadsheet as well (G6 to be more specific). As you can see, when using Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 (released on 11.07.2012) the 787/245 MHz ondemand clock managed to survive for well over 15 minutes whereas the 902/245 MHz SmartassV2 one was struggling to get to 10 minutes. I'll do a more in-depth test with the new Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 (released on 31.08.2012) in order to get the best battery life possible.
Guest Josh92 Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Cool, are you planning on adding ones for ICS/JB?
Guest HeikoH Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) As you can see then a version of C3C0's ICS has been benchmarked along with battery statistics. But of course I will try to benchmark every ROM available when there's enough spare time. For now I have updated the main post with a new link - benchmarks concentrated on battery life. Guest Josh92 Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Ah indeed, cool will look forward to it! Could just benchmark myself but won't prove as good data to yours as you seem to do it under specific restraints, good job!
