Guest boehdda Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 hope you can help me, i am using the settings from clinteastwoodman. but when i want to save the file i get an error:  error innitializing audio stream decompression. the requested conversion is not possible. check to make sure you have the required codec (microsoft audio codec) please help me i want to use divx on my phone
Guest Palindrome Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The way I get round this is to do: 1. File -> Save WAV in virtualDub 2. Load the saved wav file into an audio editor. 3. Save it again as a wav file. 4. In virtualDub select: Audio -> WAV Audio 5. Play the video and see if there is any lipsync problems. If there are do: Audio -> Interleaving and mess around with the 'delay audio track by' box. You could also try missing out steps 2 and 3, but this hasn't worked for me. I also found that some audio editors don't recognise the WAV file. So you'll have to mess around till you find one that works. It could be some simple program that allows you to save as a PCM WAV (normal Windows WAV format). I use Cakewalk Sonar to load in and save my WAVs in a format that VirtualDub likes. Hope this helps and that I've been clear enough.
Guest Lojt Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I have the same problem, but when i tried saving as a wav, it said the same error again :|
Guest Palindrome Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I think you can't put the wav straight back into virtualdub is because it's saved in a different format. When I tried loading it in Cooledit the program didn't recognise the format. You have to find a program that can load it ok and then save it as a normal windows WAV file. As I said, Sonar can do this but I'm sure there must be other programs. I'll have a play around and see what I can come up with.
Guest Lojt Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I mean, when saving as wav in virtualdub, it says that same error again...
Guest boehdda Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 whoa!! is it so difficult just to convert a file to the right size voor the SPV. there has to be an easyer way to do this. the error say's that that i do not have the correct audio codec.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Sounds like you may have the wrong version of DIVX you need 5.02 as the latest version 5.03 does not work properly. Thanks mono for jogging my memory
Guest the.dude Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I'm having problems with the size of the converted file, I am using Clinteastman's virtual dub settings. I am trying to convert a 2mb mpeg file. I save as a *.AVI file it processes it and produces a file around 30-40 mb. I have loaded the *.VCF settings through > File > Load Settings I also tried changing frame rate to 10 fps and audio compression to 11khz mono. Is there something I'm doing wrong ? Surely it should compress in size or at best stay the same size. Any help appreciated. Especially pointers to any steps that I'm missing
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Double check it's selecting Divx as the video codec. Video > Compression...
Guest the.dude Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Thanks Mono! I have checked but there is no divx codec to select: Got about 5 choices including; uncompressed RGB, Cinepak, Intel Video, MS 261, MS263, MS RLE and MS video1. How do I go about installing the DivX Codec? so that it appears in Virtual Dub? Thanks for your help.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 You'll need to download the divx 5.02 (not 5.03) bundle. I don't have it here but i'll stick it on my ftp when i get home tonight and PM you the details.
Guest siu99spj Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I have no problems with 5.03. I use the Pro version and just need to change the profile from High Definition (Perfect for DVD rips ;) ) to the second lowest one, hand portable or something (No DivX here @ work). Never had a single problem with it. Dunno why everyone else is falling over trying to use it. Just currently encoding some Buffy to keep me awake during the Modaco meet! Shame Buffy isn't not widescreen... You could have tried www.oldversion.com for DivX 5.02 but they don't have it yet. I've offered them it, just waiting to see their reply.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I've only had one divx 5.03 avi work (a conversion of the BF1942 teaser), and none since. All my 5.02's have worked fine however and have had similar results from others...
Guest v1nn1e Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 If the avi's are big, say over 20MB, can pocketMVP play them?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I've played 40meg+ files before...
