Wonder why its under 'Critical updates'.... :|

I can upload it, but where on the phone are the updates stored when you download them?

Yep only in DK, it updates the rom to ver. 1.3.7.4 and thats all then it installs drivers so that you get a small icon of the keyboard where you can change some settings.

Cos' it's critical to my health. I am off to 'sunny climates' with the military soon and want my keyboard to work; only contact with the outside world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Ok, found it, but i think it only works on DK phones...

Unzip and copy to phone.

Just tried it and it says that you need to backup all your stuff?

Does it do a hard reset??

It comes up with "Update Needed

This update requires a current version of the Smartphone operating system. Please go to the Orange SPV support website (http://www.orange.dk) to download and install a current version.

What was the DK ROM Version before the update???

That's why. Uk was 1.3.5. Probably done to distinguish ROM between languages.

Awh Shucks! Well many thanks for posting it. Just have to bite my fingernails a bit more.

Just thought I would let anyone interested know that I put the latest DK update (1.36.24) on my UK phone and was then able to install the DK keyboard rom update. My rom versions are now, Operator: 1.3.5.6, Manufacturer: 1.3.7.4, Microsoft: 3.0.13059.0.

My keyboard works! - my phone is a little messed up, cos' the DK update obviously was not designed to run in the UK. Still I am sure that if I change the neccessary settings my phone will be OK.

Anyway, the keyboard is great. Not as good as conventional PC keyboard obviously, but you can still type really fast. One annoying thing is that you cannot press two keys together like shift+a (for capital A), and have to do this one by one - similar to sticky keys in accessibility options under Windows.

P.S. You MUST make a backup if you think of installing the DK update. It seriously messes with the phone.

the UK version should go live either today or tomorrow.

Yeah but I've been hearing that for days. Now it looks like that orange are planning an update to rom version 1.5 (source: coolpanrtphone.com) by the end of the month. I don't think that they'll be doing rom two updates in a month.

I could be wrong - I would be happy to be wrong! but I just can't trust Orange UK any more.

Nonetheless , I will probably do back to UK rom once it is released, meanwhile I can use my keyboard.

How do you install the DK update on a UK phone? When I tried it said something about being the wrong country??

There are lots of complicated explanations but my approach seems the simplest.

Switch phone off.

Power on whilst holding voice memo button to enter boot loader. Wait and you should have three colour Canary screen, with Serial by the left action key.

Plug your phone into cradle. Serial should change to USB.

Then run the update software, it should say current rom version [blank], update to new rom version 1.36 (or something).

It should flash the phone. You can use this procedure with the UK update to go back to the UK version.

Let me know if you have problems.

Also, once you get the Denmark update on and your keyboard drivers working go to:

www.bornsloppy.co.uk/denmark-up.htm

It gives a good guide how to make use of the Denmark update in the UK by changing settings.

let me rephrase my last comment, the update 'will' be available later today or early tomorrow.

later today? or tomorrow?

Oh my god, I can't wait that long, I better just rush of and wreck my phone while trying to get the dk version working and then bitch about Orange for a few days.

PS. Sorry, wrong side of the bed day

To buttmonkey, I mean space monkey...

First of all you'll excuse me for being sceptical about release dates - I think I have good reason.

I am not wrecking my phone since it's a very simple matter to restore my backup from the SD card once the Orange update becomes available. I have advised everyone to make a backup, cos' if they don't the will regret it.

Getting the DK version working isn't that hard anyway, just requres a few setting changes. However, you will note in my previous post that I do think a UK update is a much better solution and will be waiting for it. Meanwhile I am able to "test" my keyboard.

Also, I am sure that it you have a look though Modaco you may find that I am not the only person to bitch about Orange.

P.S. Sorry, I got out of the the wrong side of bed today, stepped on the cat, tripped and fell down the stairs, hit my head on the front door (which opened), fell uncontious and was awakened by a horny postman (on account of me not wearing much in bed).
