Guest dragpyre Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Quote taken from the giffgaff forum, after Zadro spoke to Vodafone customer support................. They also said that the G300 has been withdrawn and that the latest date for an ICS update is end of October. They are already selling the P1 with ICS and Huawei have launched the 330 with ICS so there can not be much future for the 300. How does this make you feel?
Guest anything-but Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 (edited) Couldn`t give a stuff tbh. My phone has ICS (official NZ) and runs fine, plus there`s tillaz tweaking of the standard roms and dazz working on CM10. However much people bitch and moan it isn`t going to make it happen quicker. :) Edited September 7, 2012 by anything-but
Guest runlevel5 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 it makes me feel like a zte era for xmas :-)

I just like watching the development and reading the discussion. Tillaz is getting rid of his G300 soon, so it will just be Daz. But they're both doing good jobs. I purchased a Nexus 7, and I'm loving Jelly Bean, so I'm sure CM10 will be awesome. Edited September 7, 2012 by dragpyre
Guest wrtease Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 well we will survive with the g300 and g330 as its easy to work with.i hope to get a g330. the support is here for us in devs working and making roms and new stuff that pops up .what about sony well ?

I doubt anything will be different in the uk release of ics compared to nz. If you pay more your obviously gonna get a better spec and seeing as alot of paying £60+ there's NOT one phone that touchs it. My 2pence worth
Guest wrtease Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 yes thats true .but the support for the g300 is very good, even tillaz has spent time doing work for us without even owning the device ,thank you tillaz .and the sale of these mobiles from tesco and other places gives us more members and some might even take on developing more roms .people come and people go.that s the way things go.i see this mobile going from strength to strenght at the price it going at.some will buy even more now that the price has fallen .so long live g300.

My 2pence worth While that may be true, the Xperia Tipo, while being a slightly lower spec, had ICS from release, and that's £80-£100.. Why can companies like Sony get their fingers out but not Huawei/Vodafone?

Does the amount of threads on here of people having issues with the G300 and on Vodafone's forums, the lack of a proper release date, and the fact that XDA are ignoring this phone not concern you?

Keep it for me, G300 still best bang for buck:D

No, i have sympathy for the people who's phone is troubling them but ive not had any issues . got armv7 official ics (nz) and all for 65£. Xda, never mind modaco all the way!
Guest wrtease Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 not one bit at this price. easy to buy another .and at 60 + thats a steel.even if it goes wrong.and just to say what about sony they have had to stop producing sony u as they have now made new models ,with better design and specs ans size. im not getting at you.just stating the facts .i love sony mobiles but ,i like to mod alot so i buy cheap mobiles to play with.i had a sony x10i and liked it .had moded it so many times.then got this .i would buy another or g330 .so i choose to have what i want to use as you do with the sony xperia u.if the day comes to change then so i will.but i will look for a simple mod mobile.and to finish off my post i have got most of the stuff from chinese sites and huawei.yes all company say this and that.but why am i here on this forum to change the way the mobile works and customise it. or blow it up.my mistake if it happens.only me to blame..long live g300 .i do like this mobile.
Guest Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 The P1 is £350+ on pay as you go. Only a few stores have it in stock like Handtec. Vodafone have it on contract only. The G330 is not a replacement. The G300 launched at £100, and is still £100, whereas the G330 is launching around £150. So the G300 is still the top budget phone around at the moment.
Guest FrankieADZ Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Daz and Tillaz are getting rid of there G300's? what phone now then?
Guest b4da55 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Daz and Tillaz are getting rid of there G300's? what phone now then? Surely first and foremost you buy a phone for what it can do for you not what can be done to your phone. Even if they get rid of them why would you get a next one. If you wanted a phone just for molding than look for a phone thats been out a while and has a big community. Personally ill run this phone till it dies as it does everything i need it to!
Guest Malthus Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 I don't really care. I still intend on keeping my G300 for probably at least another 12 months, basically until the next standout budget phone comes along, like the G300 and the ZTE Skate before it, so plenty of time to use ICS. I was intending to wait until the OTA ICS update then consider switching to tillaz ROM, or CM10, if it's ever mature enough, but now I might not bother waiting.
Guest Konstipated Kiwi Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 I really couldn't give a flying one about the release date for ICS. I bought the phone for what was in the box, not what was promised down the line. The device plays my music and movie files, takes [adequate] pictures and video, runs all the entertainment and productivity apps I need, sports sat-nav, tracks my exercise, keeps me up-to-date with the footy news/scores, and I can play games on long bus/train journeys and keep abreast of professional developments in my field while standing in the supermarket queue. I have still yet to discover a compelling reason to 'upgrade' to ICS. I'm sure there are some 'killer' features for some, but nothing that will make my life better. The critical factor is that this device [just about] fell within my budget. Even the £40 it cost me to upgrade from my San Francisco was a bit of a stretch. For many people, £150+ for a phone is too much and I certainly can't see a device at that price currently offering a respective 50% improvement in performance. If development of custom ROMs ceases for the G300 tomorrow, my life will not go down the pan. The phone still does exactly what I bought it to do and what it has done since I stuck B888 on it a few days after I bought it. As somebody stated above, this device is still peerless in terms of value-for-money at this end of the market.
Guest mack_ Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 (edited) Well i bought it,joined modaco and conquered the phone(now it works for me).. so we came ,we saw and we conquered lol ...but i said it once and ill say it again, this is the best £100 i have ever spent or may ever spend and i dont regret it one bit. Great Job Huawei... Edited September 7, 2012 by mack_

Roflol xda don't care about budget devices, or many mid range devices, that's a high end only place. There are hundreds of thousands of g300s out there, and so you will see more threads as modaco is one of the main sites offering a dedicated forum.
