Guest kyan31 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) I've been looking around for new budget phones, seeing if there is anything to beat the g300 and I found the Jiayu G3! The jiayu g3 is a Chinese made phone with a: • Dual core 1Ghz processor • 1G of ram • GPU: PowerVR SGX Series5 3D • 4.5 inch ips screen 8mp camera + 2mp frontal camera • Dual sim • A metallic body • 2700 mah battery • Gorilla glass 2 • Has option in settings to be rooted • Its also running ICS but there are rumors that it may be sold with jellybean. ...Oh and did I mention that it is selling for around £115? Its a great phone for the money, and it looks sexy! Screenshots: Antutu: 5376 I actually regret buying a g300 after seeing this phone :( Gizchina says its coming out around September 15 and its available for pre order. Guest ahatomastarday Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 I haven't checked, but I bet that price (£115) only applies if you buy it from China, so yours is not a fair comparison. No way it is going to cost that little money if it ever comes to Europe.
Guest Romu_Android Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 The Ascend g300 is more sexy lol :P

No way it is going to cost that little money if it ever comes to Europe. I checked on chinatronic, a seller of this phone and its costs £125 and shipping is around £20 if you want it in under a week. I'm sure there will be other sellers when its actually out.
Guest kyan31 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 The Ascend g300 is more sexy lol :P G300 is pretty good looking but jiayu looks a lot more sleek and shiny. With the metal construction too, it probably feels really nice and premium.
Guest Dazzozo Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Ugh why do capacitive buttons always look the same.
Guest kyan31 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Ugh why do capacitive buttons always look the same. what do you mean?
Guest thepolodoc Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 it looks like it been put in a breadboard case. Lovely box youve got there. Not too ergonomic either.
Guest Dazzozo Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 what do you mean? They all have the same icons on different devices.

You'd more than likely be looking nearer 200£ ( including p&p + import tax ) to get all necessary items shipped to you...

When you buy the phone, you get everything in one box (battery, USB plug, USB cable, instruction manual. You actually get screen protector, a bumper case and a coloured case with it too. The only con about this device is you don't get and official box. The phone will come in a case with polystyrene protection, and other accessories will be wrapped in bubble wrap. All of it will be in one cardboard postal box with packaging peanuts and more bubble wrap. I saw an unboxing, that's how I know :P
Guest thejaimes111 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 the specifications are really really good for that price, but I hate the style :S
Guest Dazzozo Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 What other icons could they have? I've only seen these icons on android phones I was referring to their style. The home icon always looks the same.

Guest kyan31 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 There is also another phone called the UMi X1 which is quite similar, but cheaper and already out. Quote for Gizchina: " A dual-core MediaTek MTK MT6577 CPU, 1GB RAM 4GB ROM, 8 mega-pixel rear camera, 2 mega-pixel front camera, and dual-sim support all stuffed in to a rather good-looking 8.5mm thin body! As most G3 customers are concerned with screen size and resolution I can put you’re mind at ease and report that the UMi X1 offers the same numbers as the JiaYu G3, meaning you get a 4.5 inch display with a retina like resolution of 1280 x 720!" The only con is that the battery capacity is much lower, at 1750mah compared to the g3's 2750mah. Also, it looks like a plastic construction compared to the g3 metal one. Images:

Call me para but that doesn't sit right with me. 2 sometimes phones come out and for. one reason or another you need to return it. ASIA is pretty far We need to get a few new English manufacturers knocking phones like this out
Guest Al_1604 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) LOL, English manufacturers could produce something like this but it would be at least £300+ What we need is UK resellers offering these type of things with local support and reasonable prices. Until then my G300 will do me just fine. Edited September 8, 2012 by Al_1604
Guest tillaz Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 there's loads of good cheap china phones, the sites i trust most are thses (know a few people that have bought from here) http://www.merimobil...id_OS_s/173.htm http://www.chinastore-online.com/android-phone.html just grab the name of a device you like and search it in youtube, watch a few videos to see how it performs :) also, always make sure you pay via paypal when ever buying from the net... its the safest way i'm my opinion
Guest ayziaa Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Found a chinese review, for those who are interested. Benchmark, comparison with huawei g500 pro screen and photos from the phone. I was really septic about chinese phone but it seems that they have really improve there built quality and all. If someone on the forum buy on of those and test it, it would be very interesting to see what those are really worth http://mobile.pconline.com.cn/review/solo/1208/2920656.html
Guest Malthus Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 There's not really any reason to be sceptical of Chinese phones, considering that Apple, Samsung, HTC, etc.'s phones are all made in China too. Plus they all use much the same suppliers for the internals.
Guest tilal6991 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Supliers and materials yes but unlike directly buying from Chinese companies they have QC and aftersales support.

Plus some of the manufacturers have the bad habits to lie about the number of pixel of the camera and the real size of the battery. They put pretty mutch the number they want on the box and the device (I don't think they all do it but...)
