I purchased this to replace my ageing Motorola Flipout, unlocked (for free, after some haggling) it and put my orange sim in (or is it Everything Anywhere :).

Has anybody actually stayed with voda? Bought the phone on contract?

I was just wondering, because i see a lot of unlocked users while looking in forums.

I purchased this phone as a replacement for my broken Desire S that was on contract with Vodafone. I have since paid off the contract as I am moving overseas early next year. I am currently on O2 pay as you go as the Vodafone service is crummy down here in deepest Cornwall. I get a way better signal (and service) from O2 here in Hayle.

What's Vodaphone? ^_^

The G300 needs Vodaphone like a fish needs a bike.

I'm on T-Mobile at the minute, until tomorrow when my number ports back to Vodafone.

Vodafone is the best network for the area I live in, and I prefer PAYG, so yeah haven't even considered switching.

Asda Mobile use the Vodafone network and charge far less for calls and texts. You can keep your existing number. Top ups go a lot further. Just FYI. I used them for a couple of years and had no complaints. No need to unlock phone.

Hmm. I'll look into that, cheers.

Yeah, I forgot about ASDA.

We have poor Vodaphone coverage but good O2 so I use GiffGaff.

The 'Virtual' providors do offer better rates in most cases.

Not doubt about that, I'm surprised at the amount of people who still use the big 4 providers (Vodafone, O2, T-mobile/Orange & Three)

I'm in the process of switching to Ovivo which uses the Vodafone network (best coverage where I live) but gives you free minutes/texts/data every month & has similar prices as Giffgaff.

Im on a company voda contract, so don't worry about any of it. Work provided a Blackberry Storm 2, which is garbage, so I bought the G300 and stuck the sim in. I have my wife on a brilliant t-mobile contract - £10.50 a month, unlimited texts and unlimited data, 600 mins talk time. Its on a 2 year contract, so I just get her a new freebie phone when it's up. She's on a Galaxy Ace at the moment. When work upgrade my blackberry (which is sitting in my drawer) to a new android device in a few months, I'll unlock the G300 and give it the wife. Then when her next upgrade is available, I'll just find out which of the free handsets they offer goes fo the most on ebay... will get enough to cover the tenner a month line rental for another year.
