Hi all,

This is a general post to ask if there is anybody out there that knows anyone in the magazine business to try and get a dedicated smartphone magazine up on those shelves!!!

I would love to work as part of a team constantly looking for new developments in the new emerging smartphone industry.

Anybody else feel this way about that lump thats in your pocket for so many hours of the day???!!!

I'm sure I'm not the only member here that feels this way...post your comments and suggestions. I don't have any formal qualifications in journalism, just a thirst for knowledge and a good computer background.

Cheers...see what happens

There probably is; however, given the (relatively) small potential readership and the excellent advice on MoDaCo, why would anyone want to pay for info in a magazine which is probably 1 month out of date???

In principal an excellent idea. In practice :?: :?: :?: :?:

Ah, all about marketing and advertising of the product! For the average joe public (and my friends and colleagues!) they don't know the first thing about the Smartphone, let alone a mobile phone exists with a Microsoft based OS that you can browse the net on!

Think people are missing out by using their crappy Motorolas or Nokias!!!

Heh, when was the last time you saw an Orange advert for the Smartphone? Or any advert for it?

Actually I saw some pretty cool ads for SPV post launch...you know those ones with a guy who has an armful of stuff and some catch phrase beneath it. I haven't seen anything beyond that though

This picture was used in one, I think it's ace  When I saw it I stuck my head on it, and emailed it to a couple of mates, and one of them thought it was really me, and I'd totally lost the plot

Strange thing, they seem to be implying that the spv removes the need for all that equipment, hmmm, where do i load paper into the spv's built in printer then, and do i need to remove the battery to do it. mind you, guess we'll have to wait 6 months for orange to release the drivers

Strangely enough I was asked in a meeting today by someone overly impressed by my spv if i can print from it!

The advert also implies that we can play Fur Elise on the built in keyboard, watch movies without squinting and get some reasonable sound quality from the built in speaker. Ah well...

We could always sue Orange/M$ for false advertising

I saw an advert for the smarphone in PC Plus around December, but I think it was a businessman at a desk. Can't remember it that well though.

You can IR text files and JPEGS to a compatible printer! (my HP deskjet works with the SPV anyway)

re dedicated magazine:

although SPV/smartphone generally needs to pick up readership and public awareness, like peeps are saying, have you ever seen a "What Nokia?" magazine? And they're are a gazillion nokia users. "What SPV?" might as well be distributed by the guy in the 2nd add going to each of ours doors and printing one out, for the installed userbase! Don't think it would really be worthwhile given the economics of magazine distribution, but don't be disheartened, prove us wrong!

Did anyone hear on CNN that they've been dropping nokia 3650 "bunker busters" on Iraq again.... sa-quish

3650 bunker busters, ha ha, classic!

At Mobius we decided it was Fisher Price's 'My First Mobile' with all that plastic and bulk...
