Guest sedj Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 From a chinese custom rom , i cant find the thread posted here so here it is for anyone. http://www.mediafire.com/?a3leg77aanff653 Use root explorer or ES file explorer and replace bootanimation.zip with this in system/media directory, it does need renaming and you may wish to make a backup.
Guest luvvt Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 no worky brother. I couldnt find bootanimation.zip or bootanimation in system/media I did find bootanimation and bootanimationex in system/bin any clues ??
Guest Davidoff59 Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 System/media is probably it. Not sure as there are 4 references to boot animation.
Guest luvvt Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 well lets see if we can nut this out, In an attempt to change the bootanimation (from the standard andriod lettering), I replaced the bootanimation & bootanimationex from system/bin with copies extracted from earlier cwm backups of previous ics roms. Do you think that worked ...................Nada Can somone please enlighten the masses on the guru's secrets
Guest Davidoff59 Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 did it still boot though?
Guest Mtman1 Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Try putting it in data\local , some roms are data\local optimised, so it checks there first
Guest Davidoff59 Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 done, I just installed it with rom toolbox by jrummy. Its working now
Guest Davidoff59 Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I think Mtman is correct as that's where mine was placed
Guest Faelon Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 yep, /data/local worked for me
Guest sedj Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) Sorry guys, it varies from rom to rom this was the location under B936. Also you may need to disable fast boot for it to take effect. Edited September 16, 2012 by sedj
Guest Rattonboy Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 just install it with ROM manager.
Guest Rico_89 Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 B934: Goto: cust/hw/normal/media. Then backup original and rename the S3bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip and replace the original with the one you just renamed. Not too bad I like the dancing space robot :D .
