Google Talk with Video?

Hi folks,

Did anyone here manage to get Google Talk to give you a video calling option? If so, how did you do it? Also, is it possible to enable hangouts in the G300?

I have tried installing an .apk from xda-devs only to have it force-close on me.

Google hangouts work fine, so it should work in theory.

What do you need a front camera for? I wouldn't use a phone for "normal" video calling anyway, it's more useful for showing people stuff. Something like - "Hey, check out the view" or "I'm thinking of buying this sofa, what do you think?"

Works perfectly on Skype, but Gtalk would be faster if it worked :(

I tried the xda thing too. Didn't work.

If you just want to show something to someone you could use ustream to broadcast it. You can password protect the channel if you don't want the entire world watching.

BTW, I figured out a workaround for Google+ hangouts. It doesn't let you start a hangout from within Google+, but you can do it from the "People" application if you have your contacts synced with Google+.

Just installed 'stock' google talk app for infusion and was very surprised to find that voice is activated in it.

Already tested voice, works perfectly. Have not had a chance to test video. But it looks like video is not supported yet.
