Guest Raify Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Is there any way of stopping an incoming voice call hanging the GPRS connection? And yes I have searched. 'Always on' (unless someone calls you) seems a bit lame. Nathan
Guest martin Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 a quote from o2 website What is GPRS? General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is an 'always on', high-speed data service that operates alongside O2 UK's existing GSM network. It means you are charged per MB you download irrelevant of how long you are online. I think I got shot down the last time I metioned 'always on'. This is simply to do with resource handling for packet data transfer acrross the GPRS network and is not related to the connections from the GPRS nodes to external networks. You are right though. With an active Internet connection (small G) during an incoming GSM call: If the GSM call is answered, the GPRS internet connection is released with the GSM call. If the GSM call is rejected, the GPRS internet connection is maintained. I believe that the Internet connection should stay active after the GSM call is answered and released. Maybe someone could try this on another device type ?
Guest Raify Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Look what i've just found on the orange web site: GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) provides a different way of sending information by transferring data in bursts or packets rather than one continuous stream. Remain connected to Orange WAP services, email or the Internet and only pay for the information you send and receive not for the time connected. Furthermore, you can still receive voice calls while online. Orange GPRS is billed per byte and rounded to the nearest penny. What utter b@ll@cks!
