Guest Nofan Tasi Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 I am writing on behalf of a friend who owns a Medion Life P4012 (aka ZTE Skate Acqua). 1) after reboot, the phone has forgotten (and has reset) time/date 2) wifi range is very small (a few meters) Are these known issues? I ask because, if not, then my friend should ask Aldi a replacement phone. Overall this phone looks real good price/quality to me, but, now we wonder if, perhaps, it has some bad parts (wifi radio, HW clock) Is there any other, perhaps Aldi specific, forum for this device? Thanks!
Guest Yurbuh Tuggly Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) 1) That is very common with this phone. Something in the stock ROM, perhaps. Only happens on full reboot, but then not every time. Connecting to Wifi, momentarily, will correct and re-sync the time/date. 2) WiFi range varies greatly depending on the router and environmental factors. If it connects at all, there is probably nothing wrong with the phone...it may just have distance/signal issues based on the WiFi router, antenna location, etc. It does not seem like the phone has any defects that a return/replacement would solve. Thanks! I have this phone since 2 months. I did not observe the above problems. However my phone's clock runs slow: up to 30 minutes in 1 day! This happens especially when I use GPS navigation. I have sent it in for service and it came back with the motherboard replaced. Unfortunately the slow clock problem is still present. Anybody else have observed this?
Guest Avenger 2.0 Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 Not observed this behavior, but I'm not a big gps navigation user. And it is possible that the time syncs as I have mobile data always on. But this could be a software bug, as this device has plenty. If I'm in a spot with no cell coverage for some time, the phone will not reconnect to the network. Turning on/off airplane mode then will crash the phone. Hope a firmware 4.1 upgrade will fix some bugs.
Guest Nofan Tasi Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) thanks all for replies, let's try and wait for 4.1 indeed but how can a clock reset be a sw issue? all hw I used recent decennia remembers clock across reboot... Edited October 2, 2012 by Nofan Tasi
