I am fed up of the software engineers in my work place going on and on and on about this Crap. I hear it all the time! AAARRRR! i hate it!

Now is it compulsory to like this garbage if your into computers?

I like it, but I'm fairly objective and certainly quite a lot of recent star trek stuff is utter shite. For instance the 2 most recent movies, most of next generation, about half of voyager....

How about liking one, but not the other? I like both, but then again I'm easily pleased

jlowap, would recommend the following 2 for you:

1. The documentary 'Trekkies'. You'll enjoy that. Oh yes.

2. Look for Triumph the Insult Comic Dog - Star Wars. You'll enjoy that even more..

I've always thought there were much scarier things than fans of these two shows - anime cosplay comes to mind.. Failing that, the Tolkienites - whats worse, being able to speak Klingon of Elvish?

The movie "Galaxy Quest" is well worth a watch, whether you love or hate Star Trek.

"I'm gonna die....I don't even have a surname!!!"

Galaxy Quest was great.

Star Trek was good up to the time series 7 of DS9 was about (best trek ever imho, although others wouldn't agree).

Enterprise is ok, but a little ambiguous considering when its supposed to be set.

Voyager used to be good....

The last good trek film was First Contact (wtf was Nemesis about...? :/)

So there you go...

I'm not really into Sci Fi, but there's nothing wrong with liking it as long as you don't take things too far. It's one thing to have seen most of the episodes/films and know a few random facts, and another to spend your weekends dressing up as Mr Spock and brandishing a large silver "weapon" made out of MDF (I knew someone once...OK ). It's the harcore fans that scare me - there's something inately worrying about people who belive so strongly in something that doesn't actually exist, or is likely to in the not so distant future!

Star Wars Rules! Star Trak (sic) sucks!!

I'm sorry, I appear to have become 12 years old again, heh.

Yeah, Star Wars (and I mean iv, v and vi) rocks...forget the more recent two...

As for Star Trek - original series sh*ts all over what we have had to put up with on TV in the way of voyager etc (no offence, of course to the aptly named poster above  )

I'll extract the lightsabre from my a s s now...

errrr, see , now this is a bit of a strange one, cos personally, star wars episodes 4,5,6 rule, 1 was real crappy, 2 was a little better, but still a bit naff (nice effects but thats about it)

As for Star Trek, i dont really like 'Enterprise' too many flaws and paradox's for me, but kinda like the other stuff, especially DS9 (basically cos they aint pussy-footing around when it comes to battles, they just get into the Defiant and blow the crap out of everyone).

Starwars fan myself (not devotee though), I liked the orginals because of their cult status and what they represent film-wise (like my films me), the newer ones not too keen on in relation to the orginals but still like as I have followed the universe of starwars through the follow-up material.

I watched all of the orginal series of Startrek, only followed some of the newer ones cause they were on TV when I got home and usually watched them cause I was having a smoke at the time.

I've gotta go with:

Star Wars = good (seeing Return of the Jedi as a kid when it first came out in the Odeon Leicester Square totally ruled!!!)

Star Trek = bad (and often really, really bad)

Starwars is quality no argument there.. (by the way, i met two people who have NEVER seen ANY of the starwars!!, it was like finding the yeti..i didnt think they existed!).

as to startrek im a generations fan,

nearly all the problems could be solved with an "inverse tachyon pulse"

and if that didnt work, data could always devise a plan, no problem!

admitedly i aint watched startrek since i started uni..

aagh- it was late at night when I posted that! You know what I meant! Funny, it's only star wars/trek fans that pounce on you when you get one little thing wrong... "No Mr Spock blinked twice in episode 37 not 45" etc
