Guest iliketoparty Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Hi all, Just spent the last couple of hours designing a small site for the SPV. Type it into your SPV browser and see if it appears!! Nothing works on it just now BTW. http://www.sampsonweb.freeserve.co.uk/spv.html see it on web at: S3 - Sampsons SPV Site Just fire a few suggestions for it on this post if possible, as i want to get something people can use on their smartphone. Want linked on my site, then just say! Cheers Party
Guest fraser Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 None of the links from the main page work for me...
Guest iliketoparty Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Nothing works just now fraser! :? Another quick thing...I'm using Dreamweaver for the site along with the rest of the studio...any easier way. ie a smartphone web developers editor. Don't want to download the SDK...40 odd Megs!!! :x Party
Guest Emad Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Just get a text editor or something like arachnophilia that has html dooda's.. Hell, you can use notepad. Just don't use word.
Guest martin Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Looks Good. Maybe a tiny margin (for text) on the left of the screen might make it look better ? (I have accessed site via the SPV) I'll certainly keep it in my favourites folder for future surfing.
Guest iliketoparty Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Cheers for the constructive criticism martin, have put a 5 pixel left margin on for text now, and uploaded the first of my news page. Party
Guest raerae28 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Change font to something a little more readable, like Arial narrow or the smart phone font. Times New Roman is hard to read. Statistically proven fact.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Statistically where? Serif fonts are supposed to be the easier to read fonts as they have a "line" for your eye to easily follow (the serifs)...
Guest iliketoparty Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 What should I use then, do they not just look pretty much the same when in small letters any how? Is Nina the font that smartphone uses? Better get this sorte before I go any further! :? Cheers Party
Guest midnight Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 errrr, it makes no difference, the smartphone will only convert it to nina anyway
Guest midnight Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 oh, and as for statistics, i think you'll fint that arial and verdana are the easiest to read for the visually impaired (and hence everyone else) and that is a proven fact. (and nina is VERY similar to both) This is the exact reason that nina was chosen as the font to be used on smartphones.
Guest mavisdavis Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003  Hey Midnight great site, posts, and tweaks on the subject of fonts ect... why put black fonts on a dark purple background.I`m spec savers best customer now Ive straind my eyes looking at your site... but never the less excellent work all round.Soz M8
Guest Richie M Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Ok, check this for font comparison http://www.microsoft.com/typography/links/...ws.asp?NID=1471 Still trying to find somewhere to download Nina to my PC tho :?
Guest Fullfast Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Looks good on P800.....very quick.....sorry Have just picked the phone up and am busy putting in my favourites while wifey shops for clothes
Guest midnight Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 richie, i have the nina font if you want it (raped from the windows folder of the phone) as for my site, yeh, suppose thats the trade off between style and clarity hehe, errr, you wont have towait much longer tho, cos i'm allowing people to choose from several 'skins', this feature wont be available on the smartphone version tho i'm afraid (not yet at least)
Guest EMGenius Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Would you be able to post that nina font here Midnight, i would not mind having that for my windows!! Failing that where can i find it on the phone? Ta
Guest Richie M Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Windows  Yeah but how do you save it m8, I've tried via activ sync and SmartExplorer and niether allows access as Windows folder is the ROM :?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 No problems this end... www.monolithix.org/misc/nina.zip
Guest raerae28 Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Well it is a nice site, and i hope people didnt get huffy, my phone was recharging at the moment, and that prompted the comment(feedback) on the font choice - Thanks to the comment about the phone using its on font anyway though, that was a new one to me. As far as the stats, i cant remember where i saw it, but midnight was on point with the follow up comments. Nuff said... NICE WORK R.W.
Guest rocknsock2k Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Good luck mate hopefully itll be good
