After posting on another thread that I was more than happy with my G300 on Gingerbread I was at a kids party this evening and tidying up my apps in a fit of boredom. For some stupid reason I went into the upgrade SD card option (because I could not get any apps onto the external one) and before I know it the applying upgrade screen comes up (I had a DLOAD folder with files on my SD card)

Now the phone just sticks on the Huawei screen. :(

I can still boot into CWM, tried to restore a backup from 2 days ago, that works fine but a reboot just takes me to the same Hauwei screen.

Tried removing the DLOAD folder from the SD Card, and restoring again, same result.

Any thoughts gratefully received...

try flashing a new ROM

if that doesnt work I would get a complete new DLOAD ROM and upgrade via power + volumeup + volume down

Tried putting 940 on to see if that worked + the relevant other .zips from the guide, no joy still staying at the Huawei screen but can still boot into CWM

Found the download tool thread, done that so trying to go from fresh....

I reckon the download option should be a last resort - from what you said I am not sure what state its in

try the DLOAD 936 or 940 option first, it should reset the phone correctly

if that works you will need to unlock, root and set CWM for recovery

940 did not work.

I did a downgrade and that worked, installed 882 and just finished first of the OTA's

When I get to 892, if I root and the CMW is there any reason why I cannot restore my CWM backup of 2 days ago that was on 892?

If you've fully downgraded to 882 and OTA'd to 892 then there's no reason why your CWM backup shouldn't work.

If you inadvertently upgraded to a new baseband then it wouldn't restore. What was in that dload folder??

And so we start again.... will check the baseband when I get to 892 this time to see if 940 changed it.

I also have a HiSuite backup so I hope to get my apps and contact back to save to much groaning later as the CWM restore did not work

Back on 892 and the baseband is what is should be, i.e not 2030 so not sure why CMD restore did not work with my old backup.

Anyway, will root and then hopefully HiSuite will restore my apps and contacts

I have been using the internet forever and BBS before that and have been pretty active on various forums and in my mind as long as you do not go 'Flame on' or MAD CAP LOCKS or just weird, most posts should be tolerated. My posts were simply a record of the evening going wrong and then getting sorted and I see no reason to just keep editing the same post - just makes for a nonsense post and I see no double posts above. Anyway no point getting stressed over this, let the thread die it's natural death....
